If you have black screen or freeze try ctrl+alt+del or power on/off few times. If not working try with a hdd with password.

If you get no image and 5 beeps:

Use a hex editor and fill with ff the following files:

VSS2 store Data address: 800064h Body size: 26F9Ch
VSS2 store Data address: 82701Ch Body size: 26FE4h
FTW store Data address: 84E020h Body size: 1FE0h
(ex. from address 800064h to address 800064h + 26F9Ch fill with FF)

and replace EVSA store Base address: 880000h size: 20000h with the file attached .

You can check the address and size in your bios dump with uefitool.
Follow the post from dani981 post 490.

I tried to edit my original L560 bios dump on my own including and testing

        (1) BootOption, LenovoTranslateService (1st version) without and with VSS2, FTW, EVSA
        (2) BootOption, LenovoTranslateService_patched (2nd version) without and with VSS2, FTW, EVSA

I followed #495, #128 and #51 and the rest of this thread.

Upload to "winbond 25q128fvsq" chip was always verified.

I deactivated small and big battery, held the small switch, connected AC power, pressed start button (did no boot on it's own).

But all 4 tests generated a 5&5 beep, black screen, no prompt or splash image.

I have no clue any more what to do... I would like to do it on my own because I have 3 x L560 laptops I need to get password cleared.

        Thank's for helping!

Thank's for answering! So you patched your own bios dump only? What else did you do to unlock your L560? I hope I do not need to access another chip.

Yes, please. I would like to do it myself because I have the UEFI of two more laptops to patch. I do not want to waste your time for the other two.

aliencillo points in #157 to a possible reason for the 2x5 beeps. It may depend on a failed BIOS integrity test .

I will not give up for now.

Next I will try to lock a SSD for my L560 using ATA security which was recommended in #55 by alucard6666.

For this I will use hdparm under Linux where the SSD is mounted as an external drive for preparation.

I hope to get rid of the 2x5 beeps with this exercise.

Hi, i have an ASUS PRIME Z590M-PLUS board, which had an shorted Z590 chipset. I have succesfully exchanged the chipset to a factory new one, however there is a serious problem with the Intel Management Engine (later on: ME) not beeing activated after the chipset device replacement.

For lower chipset families (on ASUS boards) it worked to program the oldest bios version into the SPI rom, and the bios had activated the Management Engine itself by default - there was a message on the screen prior booting - "BIOS is updating Management Engine ..... . Do not shut down to prevent...

Is unlocking UEFI worth the hassle? (Surface Pro 4)

                                            Hey guys,

Bought myself Surface Pro 4 tablet today on a local craigslist-type website.
I've seen that UEFI was password protected and of course the seller forgot the password, but decided to buy it anyway.
Really needed such a tablet to use with RomRaider to do some logging/tuning on my car.
It has secure boot turned off and boots from USB, so I've formatted SSD and have done clean win10 install.

Works fine, but wanted to ask, are there any real security risks associated with UEFI settings on Surface (remote access etc.)?

                                            From what I've...

Intel NUC NUC6i3SYH UEFI Update went wrong
                                            by S70rm7r00p3r
                                            Hi guys.

I am very new to this business and i have some questions. Maybe someone can help me further.

I have a 2015 Intel NUC NUC6i3SYH and for some internet and office the computer works perfectly. Lately it has been bugging me a bit on and off. Then I saw there is a UEFI update from Intel and I thought if I put it on, the problems might be gone, but unfortunately the update didn't go through. The screen stayed black and after waiting for a while nothing happened, I had to pull the plug at some point. Of course, the NUC then failed to boot!

                                            ...

                                            by hinsech475
Hi, I would appreciate your help with the following problem.

I have a Fujitsu laptop AH562 witn a BIOS-UEFI problem since I converted the HDD to a SSD. For more details on the paltop go to the following link:

                                            http://support.fujitsupc.com/CS/Port...srch=TECHSPECS

After copying the HDD to SSD with ALtiris utility provided with the Kingston SSD and replacing the HDD with the SSD the laptop went into a startup loop with no screen display and only the disk LED flashing twice per second. I waited for approximatly 2h and then stopped the laptop...
