Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
Since I did get a 2x5 beeps and a black screen on my l560 test system lenovo had won. I bought a used motherboard without a SVP for 160 US$. The first thing I did was to deactivate Computrace.
I learnt

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
I have decided not to provide any dump here because for me it's not clear what steps are performed with this dump. The steps from this thread did not work for the L560. I will leave the laptop locked as it is if the activation of the ATA security will also not help. Another idea is to buy a new motherboard. I don't like it but this gives me full control.
Good luck for other users who want to learn by themselves.

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
I will not give up for now.
Next I will try to lock a SSD for my L560 using ATA security which was recommended in #55 by alucard6666.
For this I will use hdparm under Linux where the SSD is mounted as an external drive for preparation.
I hope to get rid of the 2x5 beeps with this exercise.Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
Yes, please. I would like to do it myself because I have the UEFI of two more laptops to patch. I do not want to waste your time for the other two.

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
Thank's for answering! So you patched your own bios dump only? What else did you do to unlock your L560? I hope I do not need to access another chip....

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
I tried to edit my original L560 bios dump on my own including and testing
(1) BootOption, LenovoTranslateService (1st version) without and with VSS2, FTW, EVSA
(2) BootOption, LenovoTranslateService_patched (2nd version) without and with VSS2, FTW, EVSA
I followed #495, #128 and #51...Last edited by holu00; 05-27-2020, 02:27 PM.

Re: Lenovo L560 - bios PWD
Dear bad caps community!
I could successfully read/write from my BIOS chip 25q128fvsq to a raspberry pi 3b+ and vice versa using a "8 pin SOIC8 Test Clip" and "6 x female to female jumper wires" (thank you "PA8600: Tech Videos and More").
Unfortunately the provided unlocked bios dumps from mcplslg123 and dr_laptop05 did not work for me. As majkel_27@o2.pl...
