Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
Fairly new here, but I'm also interested in this if you are willing to help me
I got an T480s that Lenovo sent out as a replacement for an old T460s that died and the T480s came with a supervisor password from the refurbishing center in China.Comment

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
So this is the LenovoTranslateService file I patched so it would accept any key.
I did test it on X260 and it did work well. But when I tested it on X270, there would be beeps but no display.
I know that 6th, 7th and 8th gen share the same LenovoTranslateService and BootOptions file (I compared patched files for different models). There may be another file needed ?!Attached FilesComment

I will try it on my x250 when I receive my new programmer..Comment

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
For that model you might need different file. I am not sure because I haven't compared 4th/5th gen to 6th/7th/8th gen yet. But try it first and let me know.
Don't forget BootOptions and SystemPpisNeededByDxe which are found in some previous post in this topic.Comment

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
@RethoricalCheese - Do you know if your patched file works on both 7 and 9 digit ID's, or does that not matter and as long as file is compatible with system it should work?
I don't need right now, can't test, only following along to try and learn and or help, to be able to sort this out for others later who need unlocked.
What you did was my first thought too, jump different or bypass area, before it was mentioned on page 1 post #11 - good to see that was a good idea and it's now proven working method at least on some systems.
I guess from my end, it doesn't help that I'm not familiar with these models or what generation is what
We need to put together a package of files xx1 set for xxgen1/models and then another for xx2 set for xxgen2/models.
If you need help trying to figure out how to patch anything let me know, I am good at than kind of thing too, but do not own any of these systems (only help people with BIOS often)Comment

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
BIOSG3tta3, it doesn't matter which one.
dwirachmat, yes it will ask for key but it accepts any key. And yes, it will say invalid but it continues to the valid part right after that. Did you replace BOTH files or just LenovoTranslateService?Comment

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
so maybe when it stuck on invalid key, i must shut it down and reflash with original bios right? or how?Comment

by DynaxSCHi, i have an ASUS PRIME Z590M-PLUS board, which had an shorted Z590 chipset. I have succesfully exchanged the chipset to a factory new one, however there is a serious problem with the Intel Management Engine (later on: ME) not beeing activated after the chipset device replacement.
For lower chipset families (on ASUS boards) it worked to program the oldest bios version into the SPI rom, and the bios had activated the Management Engine itself by default - there was a message on the screen prior booting - "BIOS is updating Management Engine ..... . by m3vuvIts a bit of a long tale but i swapped the original hd for a 2tb ssd,i want about 6 bootable partitions,it needs the uefi enabling in the bios,I am ok with that, the issue is i cant convert the drive to gpt when it has data on it,the issue is windows wont install to a gpt drive, there is a utility from hp to install the efi partition on the drive but it runs on windows, its a chicken and egg thing, can anyone explaine how hp did this?,I am pulling my hair out;it seems i need to run the hp uefi tool to make the uefi option work in the bios, but it needs windows to run this that wont install on a gpt...

by CronaxFDHey guys,
Bought myself Surface Pro 4 tablet today on a local craigslist-type website.
I've seen that UEFI was password protected and of course the seller forgot the password, but decided to buy it anyway.
Really needed such a tablet to use with RomRaider to do some logging/tuning on my car.
It has secure boot turned off and boots from USB, so I've formatted SSD and have done clean win10 install.
Works fine, but wanted to ask, are there any real security risks associated with UEFI settings on Surface (remote access etc.)?
From what I've... -
by S70rm7r00p3rHi guys.
I am very new to this business and i have some questions. Maybe someone can help me further.
I have a 2015 Intel NUC NUC6i3SYH and for some internet and office the computer works perfectly. Lately it has been bugging me a bit on and off. Then I saw there is a UEFI update from Intel and I thought if I put it on, the problems might be gone, but unfortunately the update didn't go through. The screen stayed black and after waiting for a while nothing happened, I had to pull the plug at some point. Of course, the NUC then failed to boot!

by hinsech475Hi, I would appreciate your help with the following problem.
I have a Fujitsu laptop AH562 witn a BIOS-UEFI problem since I converted the HDD to a SSD. For more details on the paltop go to the following link:
http://support.fujitsupc.com/CS/Port...srch=TECHSPECS
After copying the HDD to SSD with ALtiris utility provided with the Kingston SSD and replacing the HDD with the SSD the laptop went into a startup loop with no screen display and only the disk LED flashing twice per second. I waited for approximatly 2h and then stopped the laptop... - Loading...
