    Bios from different manufacturer

Hi, I gotta Acer NB , got myself replacement Mobo, originating from PackardBell. Motherboards are same with only difference name of NorthBridge, original Acer states RS880 , while current PackBell got RS780M. Everything else is same , even those chips soldered on Mobo got same "names".

I wonder If its :generaly: safe to put Acer BIOS into this PackBell mobo. My concern is really fucked up Keyboard layout by PackBell.

    Thx for anything =)

    Re: Bios from different manufacturer

maybe, but aftermarket MFG's like parkerd hell can use a different northbridge or KBC and thus cause the need for a modded BIOS. in my case i have done that before, on the computer i am typing on now, it had a modded by powerspec BIOS and i replaced it with the stock Intel BIOS because it was severely buggy and won't boot from network or add on cards. that worked because ALL the chips are original to Intel.

just use a second BIOS chip for Acer's BIOS and don't overwrite the current one with the packard hell BIOS on it.

Sometimes you need to break shit to fix it.... Thats why my lawnmower doesn't have a deadman switch or engine brake anymore
