I sent my machine to a shop and they were able to extra info from the BIOS chip and sent it to me, but they actually sent to .bin files, could somebody please tell me which one should I send here? they named it minboard.bin (mainboard.bin?) and ec.bin.

I read on another thread for a Firefly G8 that we might need to use both files, perhaps is that why we aren't getting them unlocked? https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...-firefly-14-g8

I'm attaching my 2 files in case someone might want to take a look at them.

Hello, I took my laptop to a shop and they seem to have flashed a G7 bios to it, and the machine (Being a G10A) hasn't booted since. I even tried buying 2 new chips from a seller on ebay that configured them for me(with a G10A BIOS he told me, and made very sure that that's the machine I have before we made business), the machine is still not booting up, the caps lock LED is on/off about 7 times and it does not boot. The tech that worked on it on its infinite wisdom decided not to back up the Original chips before flashing the wrong (G7) BIOS. I still have the original chips in hand
1- is there a way to get the computer back to a working state?
2-Could this be not related to a BIOS and something else broke while they were working on it?
3- Do these machines have some sort of mechanism or board part that bricks if a wrong BIOS is detected as a security measure by any chance?

Sorry for the many question, I'm just a bit frustrated that I've been going back and forth with the shop since a few months now...

                      Hello,
Could someone please help me with removing BIOS password?
RCUnlocker refuses to do this due to 32MB flash size.

Also, it would be great if you can share the procedure with me so I don't bother you next time. I did my best trying to figure it out but gave up after reading hundreds of posts.

                      Thank you in advance!

                          @Karol,
Thank you so much, I managed to unlock the device.
If you don't mind, could you please point me to the information about how you:
                          a) Extracted the information like model/serial etc from the bios binary
                          b) How you created the unlocked binary

Assuming that it is not a secret of course.
I would rather learn how to do this by myself in future.

Also, couple of notes about the unlocking procedure:
                          a) Initially step 3 did not reset the settings (and step 6 was unnecessary since all data there was retained). The device kept booting in some Factory mode.
I found that this device had "BIOS Sure Start" protection enabled. I unchecked all boxes there and continued to Step 3.
On Step 6 I had to enter some information as you suggested.
After that the device started to complain aboutn missing Critical information "Cirrus Discrete Amp Calibration Data".
I had to use UEFITool.exe with the original BIOS binary, search for CirrusSmartAmpCalibrationData section and preserve 48 bytes in there.
After that, I had to use "HP BIOS Config Utility" to dump all BIOS settings to a file (/get:bcu.txt), add those 48 bytes as shown below and write the config back (/set:bcu.txt):
                          Code:
                          Cirrus Discrete Amp Calibration Data
                              30000000020000000E1F1301EE960B00804874BA8B7DDA0117014B290E1E1301EE960B0010C0E8BB8B7DDA011701282B
I suspect that I could have used this utility to also copy/paste all information that I had to enter manually on Step 6. Will try this approach next time.
                          Hope this will help someone.

Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...
