Hello all, I have this HP Victus 15-fb1000ca and I am suspecting bios is corrupted, as soon as the laptop powers on the power button blinks once (white light) and nothing after. Black screen. Everything seems normal on the motherboard. I have attached the bios bin read file. I have the bios dump from HP's website, i was hoping someone could explain where or how to modify the clean dump to match my serial number etc.
As per posting rules:
Model: HP Victus 15-fb10000ca
Serial Number: 5CD34293F9
Prod ID 8G9JOUA#ABL
Motherboard Model Number: DAG3PRMB8D0 REV: D
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!Attached FilesComment

Search your S/N with hex editor, you'll find a block containing all that info, copy that block to new BIOSi was hoping someone could explain where or how to modify the clean dump to match my serial number etc.
For Win key, search in hex 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 1D 00 00 00, copy that too
Try, BIOS extracted from HP website with serial/Win key inserted

BIOS backup is incomplete, you only read the first 1MB, it should be 16MB, check your programmer settings, manually select W25Q128JW or equivalent chip, luckily the serial/win key is there

Try reading the BIOS chip again, your BIOS backup is almost empty, most of it is 00 00 or FF FF, cannot get the serial/model/product ID/etc. from your BIOS
If that fails, try post 5 https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...64#post3344564
Or post # 43 above
Try on a new BIOS chip if possible W25Q128JW, W25R128JW or similar 1.8V chip
Edit serial/product number/etc. with HP BCU if it works

Hello everyone,
After performing a BIOS update on my HP Victus laptop, I noticed that some system information (like S/N and product number) was either missing or altered. I suspect the BIOS is corrupted.
Since then, I’ve been experiencing serious stability issues:- The screen freezes and crashes after a few minutes of use.
 - By uninstalling the GPU driver, the system runs with 16GB of RAM, but graphics performance is unstable.
 - By updating the GPU driver, the system consistently freezes and crashes, and after reboot, only 8GB of RAM is detected instead of 16GB.

The process completed without errors but after rebooting, same issue, nothing has changed, and data is still missing in BIOS.
I need help to rewrite or restore the system information in the BIOS.
Thanks in advance!

Most likely RAM fault, remove both RAM sticks, clean the contacts on the RAM, try with only 1 RAM stickHello everyone,

You should also see "Manufacture Programming Mode is in Unlock mode" text on a blue rectangle at power on, else BCU won't work
Like this:
Use BCU to enter the following, only if you have the Manufacture mode... message at boot
Yes, Product name should be written as "Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fb0xxx"Code:Product name: Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fb0xxx Serial Number: 5CD248B6FR Build ID: 22WW3OHZ601#SABF#DABF SKU number: 6R480EA#ABF Feature Byte: 3K6b7K7zaBapaqasawbhcbdXfPfdkFm9mzncpnpqprqjqt.he System Board CT Number: (it's on a sticker on the motherboard) System Family: HP VICTUS
If you don't have the Manufacture Programming Mode message, you need to use a programmer to flash BIOS extracted from HP website, the BIOS chip is 1.8V, you need a programmer that supports 1.8V SPI Flash chips, make a backup of the current contents of the BIOS chip first before flashing another BIOS

The RAM is ok, I cleaned and tested both on slot 1 and 2 respectively, plus I did a MemTest86 once the system detected 16GO, and all the results are good.Originally posted by m1ch43lzm

I don't have a programmer, so I tried to make a copy of my BIOS using AMI Firmware Utility and then Flashrom booting from Linux, but both process failed each time with error messages... I don't know which method to use to get it.Originally posted by m1ch43lzm
You attached clean BIOS from HP, not the contents of your BIOS chip
However I was able to put my hand on an original BIOS with same ref as my laptop though... Is there any way it can help ?

Don't know of any software method of flashing a modified BIOS, or overwriting the full BIOS image on HP laptops (especially with AMD CPU), as usually the area where the S/N and Win key is located is not overwritten during a normal BIOS update, the regular update procedure skips that section
You can try creating the BIOS recovery USB drive from sp158225.exe and follow the instructions there:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/documen...413-2337994-16
But since that's an "official" method, it also doesn't change the MPM Lock which you need to enter serial/product name/SKU/feature byte, etc. with HP BCU
The BIOS can't be downgraded either via software
Only way that I know of is using a hardware programmer- Provides the 2025.1 security enhancement. NOTE: After this BIOS update is installed, previous BIOS versions cannot be reinstalled.Comment

			by macabookHello everyone,
I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
🧩 Initial Issue- Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight

			by piratiHello everyone,
I recently bought a non-working Asus Zenbook Pro Duo OLED UX8402ZA that was listed for parts only. The seller mentioned that it had no display output but that the charging lights worked.
When the laptop arrived (without a charger and SSD), I connected a charger and confirmed with a multimeter that it was charging the battery. However, when I tried to power it on, only the backlight of the secondary display came on. There was no image, and it didn’t boot into the BIOS.
I decided to try flashing a new BIOS, but since I didn’t want to desolder...-

I recently bought this motherboard and I'm having a lot of problems.
- The Wi-Fi doesn't appear in the Network Card in Device Manager (The Wi-Fi card and the Wi-Fi work fine when I installed the old motherboard)
- The hard drive is missing when i reboot the system and reappears when i reboot again (crtl+alt+del).
- When I tried to do an internal BIOS update it doesn't work it always fails.
Can someone help me update the BIOS or give me a new clean BIOS?

by zeniusHello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.
Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...-
