Compare it to one of the others in the thread and you`ll see there is some code in the others.
Well, to say it killed the laptop is definitivly not the right wording. Sorry. I should have said it just did not work.
I tried the patch on some random 840 G6 BIOS I found here that had produced EC errors and later on on the BIOS from danito to unlock MPM again. Both were unsuccessful. The laptop didn't come alive.
Now the BIOS from hoaca388 works perfectly, but also only on the second try. On the first try I had also yellow-orange blinking pattern on the charge LED. Afterwards I read out the non-working BIOS and somehow the chip got modified a lot. Maybe the BIOS tries to write back to itself and failed because I didn't solder well.

I guess I still have to learn proper hot-air-soldering.

So, probably this error report ist just me not being able to solder, but I'll not try the non-working files any more, as I still soldered around much too much in this mainboard.

And the FF's are there because I at first tried to read out the BIOS with an adapter without unsodering, but somehow the mainboard came alive a little without power supply, just with the CH341, and destroyed the chip - it even set the write protection flags, so I had to buy a new BIOS chip.

But now everything works - yeah!

Post your backups in the 830 G8 thread and someone might be able to help. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...-unlock-830-g8 .Give an explanation of what you did to remove the password etc

It should only be used with the main bios, not the EC_Bios

If that is the main bios yes. Some boards have a 32MB and 16MB bios, the 16MB being the EC_Bios and the 32MB the main. Some boards have two 32MB chips, by looking at the code with a hex editor you can tell which is which, sometimes you can find a schematic and you can find which is which from that, and sometimes there will be a silkscreen on the board saying MAIN , EC_BIOS.
                      Working...
