and what's the link between system password and touchpad? None to zero? If it doesn't work in windows install Serial IO drivers. Also check settings in bios, maybe you disable it by accident.

LE: now i see you had to pull off the motherboard to reach bios chipset, check the flex cable of tpad connector.
