    Diagnosing a bad BIOS?

We've all been in the situation; power but nothing on screen. Usually either going to be the graphics, or the BIOS. I read alot about people replacing the BIOS chip on here - how do people confirm it? I've scrapped a lot of laptops for this!

There isn't an easy way to do a correct diagnostic. First, tray what is less difficult to you. (possible program the bios is easy)

I would start with gpu. I go bios route if power issues. Coils included. But check gpu. BTW, what model laptop?

No model in particular - more of a general question. Been thinking a lot recently about over the years, how many laptops I must've stripped down with 'bios issues', going by some of the posts here.

        Power issues? In what sense?

I've always been a bit confused by this, too. How likely is it that a BIOS chip just "go bad" at random?

Just try an error for the cheap solution first. Almost intel motherboard is come with bios chip problem the rest amd model common problem with gpu. If u really want procedure to check bios measure the pin from sio chip. Sio send memory read and write to bios then check power button switch without press power button there present 3v or not.
