Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen2 Disable Absolute Persistence Module

    Hello, everyone.

I've brought this laptop of gumtree it was sold under 'spare or parts' the only issue with the laptop was it tends to heat up after 2-3 hours and decrease in performance.

because it did not come with a hdd I could not test it there, so I've installed a hdd and put windows 10 on it, I've used it for 5 hours and it did not heat up or decrease in performance however it turned off and displayed a message saying this laptop is disabled. I couldn't enter bios or boot windows at all. so I removed the hdd and reinstalled windows again and the message is gone.

I've contacted lenovo becuase it was still under warranty but they told me this laptop was reported as stolen and they could not help with disabling the Computrace (Absolute Persistence Module )

I've tried ubuntu and used it for 2 days and it did not turn off to display the message, so is only windows.

does anyone know's how can I disable the 'Absolute Persistence Module' in bios.

    thanks in advance.

Re: Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen2 Disable Absolute Persistence Module

I'm a bit confused, I've downloaded and extracted the bios from the .exe file from lenovo's website for my laptop.

I'm guesing this two files are the bios '$0AN3500.FL1' and '$0AN3500.FL2' the FL1 file is 17.4MB the FL2 file is 256KB

do I just need to rename the .FL1 to .bin and follow this tutorial https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...10&postcount=3 which is for different model

Compare the size of original bios and .FL1-its not same. You need to compare both these bios in hex editor and cut the extra garbage from fl1 file to match it with your original dump. Else ask for bios in "Bios section" while posting your original backup.

You need a SPI programmer to read your bios chip.

sorry for the late reply, I've ordered 'CH341A USB Programmer' , and I've practiced on my other old laptop 'lenovo x220' ,

I had trouble reading the bios with the clip , I've removed the bios chip and soldered it on the ch341a which worked and I successfully extracted the bios.

the bios chip was easyly to fiind on the x220 , however I cannot find it on the t14s gen 2 HT4B1/HX3B0 NM-D362 Rev : 2.0 does anyone knows where it is located.

                  thanks in advance.

I think I've found it was behind a metal shield it's gigadevice and there are two of them there

                    AJ2146
                    25B256DYIG
                    UH1621

                    AJ2146
                    25R256DYIG
                    UH3835

are they both part of bios.

So I had in possession some Lenovo T14s Gen 20WN laptops that had Absolute Persistence enabled and locked. So I used the usual editing of the BIOS to unlock the AP feature.

However, one pooped out on me when it tried to go to Self healing mode in which the other 4 did and had no issues. This one started flashing the LED's on the keyboard and whatnot. Just wont work. I tried flashing the original BIOS back and while it worked to POST, as soon as I loaded Windows, it crapped out again.

So I attempted to clean the ME with the bios to see if it was something there that was the problem. No go.

I'm going to keep working on it, but if someone can have a look at the BIOS files I attached and see if I am missing something. I have included the clean ME BIOS file, both U2202 and U2201 (is this where the self healing is located?)

sorry, for the delay post update.

I'm attaching the extracted bios from chip 'GD25R256DYIG' , not from 'GD25B256DYIG' because I don't know if I need to extract from both of the chips or just one or if this laptop has dual bios. if anyone can help to remove 'Absolute Persistence Module'. many thanks.

                              by yodafett
Hi, It's been a while since I've messed with this laptop so my memory may not be 100% correct,

Current Absolute settings are listed bellow.

                              "Absolute Persistence Module Current State
                              Activation Status: Inactive
Absolute Persistence Module Permanent Disable: No"

I would like to be ride of the Absolute all together if possible or at least be able to change " Permanent Disable to "Yes". Am I correct in thinking that "Permanent Disable No" means that it can be activated remotely at any time?

I've got a Wifi bridge setup with two Ubiquiti Powerbeam Ac Gen2 Pbe-5ac-gen2 450 Mbit/s units. They ran great for 18 months and are about 2km apart, line of sight. Last week sometime they somehow disconnected from each other and will in the world not reconnect. I looked at the config on both units and surely they aren't paired anymore for one reason or another. I tried a site scan to see other unit but I cannot see it trying to marry them back together.

                              I rebooted both units
Tried to look for the others signal, but it's not there.

I've set up a few Wifi bridges,...

                              Good day, everyone,

My ThinkPad E15 Gen2 suddenly stopped charging the battery and when the battery died the laptop is bricked.

The cause seems to be the power delivery circuit, namely the firmware on 24256e (UB9 on the schematic) chip.

I could not find the updated dump (current version is 2FF9 as per Lenovo) for this chip anywhere. So, please, if anyone has it or can make a dump from a working machine, please, share.

                              Model: Lenovo ThinkPad E15 Gen2
