    MacBook Pro M1 2020 A2338 (NO BACKLIGHT HELP)

    Hello Guys. I was repairing a MacBook with no backlight. I noticed the resistor/diode RP802 was bad so I took it off. I also had a faulty motherboard that can't be repaired that had that resistor/diode on it (RP802). So it took the good RP802 off the faulty board. And when I had it on my tweezers it accidentally flew away. And now I don't know what to do. I 100% can't find it because of how small it is. Do you guys know any other diode/resistor that can work as the RP802


    I'm a newbie to microsoldering and I'm still learning. All help is really appreciated

    Oh and I also messed up the copper parts by myself how to fix this

          Unless there is a broken trace within the copper area - you can leave it as-is.

          On PCB designs, the blank PCB starts off as a full coating of copper -> then masking is applied and chemicals are used to etch away portions of the copper to create the 'wire' between components. After the PCB is etched, the solder mask is coated ontop.

          Unless there is a cut in the copper plane, you can ignore it - only the solder mask (green or whatever color it was) has been flaked off but it is not of concern for this region.

            Got it. But I have to place back diodes and resistor. How to do that if the copper parts is exposed is it even possible when the copper parts is exposed. I need to place back RP801 RP802 and a other. But the copper parts is removed. Is it possible then to place back?

                    Don't you have UV mask? Apply it to the areas you want to cover, and scrape off any overfill in the areas you want to solder to.

                      Hi thank you very much for you're reply. No I don't have uv mask is that necessary to buy if so I will buy it. One thing when you apple uv mask and you want to scrape of. I don't know where the pads are for the diodes / resistors to place them back. Thing is I don't know where it is now because the copper parts is removed. So how do I know where to exactly place them back

                        Remove all power. Meter in diode mode. Locate parts on your board that share a connection with the missing parts. Apply a meter probe on one side of the part still on the board. Other meter probe on the exposed copper. If you hear a tone, then the trace is the same connection and could be used for the repair. Do not solder anything till we can review the points. Best to also check the resistance of each such copper trace points.

                          Got it only thing is. I have a multimeter but mine doesn't make sound what now ??

                            So what do I do now. If there is a reading what should it be ??
