    2020 Macbook Pro M2 A2338 820-02773

    Hey all,

I have a Macbook Pro A2338, board number 820-02773 (schematics + board view attached for reference).
When plugged in, meter shows 0A at 20.78V. Makes charger connected sound when plugged in, but the battery does not charge. Battery is detected in macOS, but shows 0%.Strangely, it seems to run off of the battery for several minutes despite being at 0%.
The board had some light corrosion around JE501 fan connector (as shown in photo), but am not sure if there is any relation. Corrosion has been cleaned, but fan runs at 100% when on (laptop speed/performance seems normal though so does not appear to be throttling).
I think I may be facing two separate issues (battery charging issue + fan issue) but am curious to know if there may be any correlation there. Visual inspection did not yield any other corrosion anywhere else.

    Apple Diagnostics shows:
There may be an issue with the power adapter.
    Reference Codes: PPP007

Can provide any measurements as needed! Schematic https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...60#post1798960

    Thank you!

Check the I2C SCL/SDA lines to the battery. Fan will run at 100% if missing. Have seen this with a liquid damaged battery flex cable but could also be the connector itself.

Fan will also run flat out if tach is missing. Use MAC Fans control or similar to see if there is a tach present.

Hi there, it looks like it was indeed some sort of issue either in the battery flex cable or connector itself.
Replaced the cable outright and cleaned the connector on the battery side (didn't look liquid damaged, but cleaned it anyway).
