Hi there, it looks like it was indeed some sort of issue either in the battery flex cable or connector itself.
Replaced the cable outright and cleaned the connector on the battery side (didn't look liquid damaged, but cleaned it anyway)....

Hey all,
I have a Macbook Pro A2338, board number 820-02773 (schematics + board view attached for reference).
When plugged in, meter shows 0A at 20.78V. Makes charger connected sound when plugged in, but the battery does not charge. Battery is detected in macOS, but shows 0%.Strangely, it seems to run off of the battery for several minutes despite being at 0%.
The board had some light corrosion around JE501 fan connector (as shown in photo), but am not sure if there is any relation. Corrosion has been cleaned, but fan runs at 100% when on (laptop speed/performance seems... -
iPad Pro 12.9 2nd Gen A1671 - 1mA No Power, No Charge
Hi all,
I have a 2nd generation iPad Pro 12.9" Model number A1671. I don't usually work on these, but I suppose today is the day I start. Apologies for any ignorance on tablet matters. On Type-C to USB amp meter, showing 5v @ 1mA
(0.005W) then instantly to 0mA back and forth. Power draw is the same with and without screen and with and without battery connected. Of course, not enough current for anything to show on thermal camera.

Hi all, I have a bit of a strange one.
I have a Macbook Air (board model 820-3437) with WiFi showing no networks and missing device in network settings. However, Bluetooth functionality does appear to be working (as I assume this is over USB protocol). I've attempted checking with several different USB WiFi dongles w/ their respective drivers, an OS reload, a thunderbolt ethernet adapter, and 2 different USB ethernet adapters, none of which seem to go online. Other devices on the network are working correctly. This is on a fresh install of macOS Big Sur.

Dell Inspiron 14 5480 Bucky Bensolo CPU Error
Hi all,
I have a Dell Inspiron 5480 (board model is Bucky Bensolo a00). The boardview and schematics are attached for reference.
Board had some liquid damage only around the ISL95859 chip (in picture). I cleaned the board with IPA as best as I could. Laptop gets no picture but charge light flashes amber 2 times and white 1 time. According to Dell this is a CPU error. I have checked that the power rails around the chip are present (1V_VCCST_CPU, DCBATOUT, and 3D3V_S0). Is it worth buying and swapping the chip? Anyone with a similar issue on this board?

Hi, reflowed chip and now get 8 beeps consistently. Flashed BIOS with both original and extract bin from HP updater but same story. Could the EC needs to be flashed? I'd solder wires directly to the SPI pins if so, but unfortunately without schematics I have no idea where they are....Leave a comment:

HP ENVY x360 15m-dr0011dx 8 Beeps
I have an HP Envy x360 15m-dr laptop which sometimes beeps 8 times on startup and sometimes gets no beeps at all (both with no picture).
Power button light comes on, fans spin and stop after a few seconds, then screen stays black with no picture. If the machine decides to beep 8 times, it shuts off immediately after. According to what I could find, 8 beeps was corrupted BIOS.
Made backup of original BIOS (attached). Attempted to flash BIOS with extracted bin file from HP BIOS update. Screen showed "Updating boot block", rebooted and immediately back to 8 beeps and... -
Macbook Pro A1989 (Touchbar), 820-00850-A, 20V 0A, Not Charging
Hello,
I have a Macbook Pro A1989 that had liquid spilled on a thunderbolt hub that was plugged into one of the USB-C ports. The laptop will now no longer charge.
Hitting the power button displays the low battery icon and then goes off.
Power meter shows 20V drawing 0A. The same voltage displayed and amperage drawing on all 4 ports. Since the board is relatively cheap on this model, is there anyway to force charge the battery or run the board with a DC power supply to simulate the battery to retrieve the data?

Darn, I thought that was the key as after replacing that cap it did boot about 5 times with fuse (maybe board being warm?)
Then eventually same condition as before

I agree it is very odd. And with the fuse replaced if I unplug and replug the charger a good 40 times eventually it will get green light and fan spin.
Otherwise no light and the aforementioned results. To rule it out, I am using a genuine known-good charger as well.
(The following measurements are still without fuse)
in the MOhm range, 20MOhm and rising on pin 2 of that fuse.

Without F7140 I consistently get green and then orange light on charger. Both sides of fuse >10MOhm so doesn't appear to be shorted directly.
Voltage on pin 1 of F7140: 8.58V
Pin 1 of R7006: 0.7V
Pin 1 of R7005: 15.08V

Hi I have a 820-00165 with a known good and working DC-In board, currently that is the only thing connected to the board. No green light on charger.
PPDCIN_G3H = 15.04V
PPDCIN_G3H_ISOL = 15V
PPBUS_G3H = Moves around between 0.6V and 1.4V in no specific pattern (Measured on both sides of F7140)
PPBUS_G3H resistance to GND measures OL
PPBUS_G3H seems too low. Any ideas?

In the event of shorted MOSFET to CPU, should I expect a coil to have similarly low resistance to GND? With battery unplugged and without DCIN, fuse goes to 0Ohms to GND. Haven't injected any voltage in-case MOSFET is to CPU don't want to kill it, but do have thermal camera if needed to take that route. Checked top side coil resistance in image below:

A2251 820-01949 2020 Macbook Pro Stuck at 5V 13mA
Hi all,
I have a A2251 board number 820-01949 which is in a 13" 2020 Macbook Pro and does not turn on.
Attempted DFU mode incase of corrupted T2, but never gets detected on second machine.
USB-C ampmeter shows drawing 13mA at 5.22V stable, never switches to 20V.
Checked and don't see any shorts on caps near CD3217 chips.
Schematics and boardview appear unavailable
