    Quanta ZB1 discrete to UMA

Just a quick write-up on a conversion I performed recently on Quanta ZB1 board from an Acer Aspire 5672WLMi (Aspire 5670 series).
Ati Mobility Radeon X1400 dGPU died while installing Linux, it froze and then after rebooting I had a white screen with some lines. External display on VGA was mostly working but with some vertical bars on some screens.

So went on to convert to iGPU. Main point is that the MCH is a 945PM, so without integrated GPU. It must be replaced with a 945GM GMCH.
After replacement, dGPU will still be used by default so you can confirm the machine still POSTs.

    You need to populate the BOM option IV@ in the schematics: RP51, RP60, R469-R471, R160, R468, R472, R473, R180, R181, R185, R186.

    When there is an alternative between IV@ and EV@, you need to populate IV@ and depopulate EV@: R_PCLK_SIO, TV_Y/G, TV_C/R, TV_COMP, VGA_RED, VGA_GRN, VGA_BLU, VSYNC, HSYNC, CRTDCLK, CRTDDAT, PU16 #1/2, LVDS_BLON, LVDS_DIGON, TXUCLKOUT, TXUOUT2, TXUOUT1, TXUOUT0, TXLOUT0, TXLOUT1, TXLOUT2, TXLCLKOUT.

Finally, Q32 and Q33 must be removed for proper detection of the internal panel.

Having a donor board with a 945GM will help for the odd-valued resistors.

Note that DVI will not work since there's no direct connection between the DVI port and the GMCH, it goes through a CH7307C display controller which is not populated. You could probably populate that circuit if you really needed DVI but I left it out.

Thanks for the info but surprised you put up so much labour in converting this very old machine.

Re: Quanta ZB1 discrete to UMA

My only purpose in life is to save these machine from going to the landfill. Most of the stuff I fix is like that, on my spare time with my own money.
And they're also often pretty beaten up, you don't see the other hours of work cleaning it and putting it back together properly with 3 times as many screws as it had when I got it, so that it looks half decent, fixing ripped off components and superglued connector and other stuff while I'm at it.
There are still a few things not quite right, but at least with a Core 2 Duo T5500 and 2GB RAM upgrade it can be used for lightweight office work.

Need help with HP15-fxxxxx Quanta U99/U92 LVDS <> eDP conversion.
        by lpraderi
Hello , for some time I was studying Quanta U9x/8x schematics and the option to use both type of screen (LVDS 40 pin / eDP 30 pin).
In some cases to use LVDS screen PCB use converter IC RTD2132/6
Now I found an HP 15 F series U99 mainboard with RTD chip not populated and LVDS 40 pin lcd touch screen
at the same time I have another HP 15 N series with Quanta U92 mainboard and RTD2136 with eDP 30 pin lcd screen (no touch).
Maybe someone more experienced in the subject can clarify if is posible to change type of screen used with some resistors / bios options change.

        hp g72 b52sf disabling dgpu amd/ati
        by jean luc ferre
        Hello,
On the pc hp g72 b52sf w10 bios:sp55430 each time that i reboot after an update i have a bsod with "video tdr failure in atikmpag.sys" .That's a problem with the ati/amd chip because when i desactivate the amd graphics in device manager the pc can work on the intel graphics. But that's not a valid solution because each time i reboot i have the bsod.
I tried several drivers , even sp50704, to initialize this chip, but i have always the same error of bsod ,or error code 31. On my original bios sp55430 it was not possible to switch the Dgpu toward egpu because the advanced...

        Quanta N76 power-on issue.
        by Francisco.s
Hello, I'm trying to repair an HP 27 Quanta N76 (DA0N76MB6E0 Rev E).

I only get 3.3V, 5V, and 1.05V; no other voltages.

I tried the BIOS and changed the KBC. The KBC self-programmed upon power-up after changing it.

The VR-On is missing for NCP81220, but 1.2V is also missing for DDR4, so 1P2V_PWRGD is low. SUSON or DDR_VTT_EN are not present on the DDR4 voltage regulator (RT8231BGQW). It seems the KBC isn't triggering these signals.

I'm using the Quanta N91 schematic, but there are too many changes that make it nearly impossible to measure signal...

Dell Alienware M15 R7 (intel) LA-L651P does not recognize Nvidia RTX 3060M dGPU
        by judamex
Hello, I have a Dell Alienware M15 R7 INTEL LA-L651P which does not detect the dGPU which is a 3060M, I tried reprogramming both BIOS, without success, the dGPU has all the voltages, I do not know how to make it turn on properly with an external power supply, since outside the case, it only turns on for a second and turns off.
I tested in vBios and on pin 2 of the eeprom I have no voltage, on pin 1 I do have 1.8V
I also disabled the hybrid GPU in the BIOS settings and the Windows startup sound is heard but there is no image, with a color code of 2 red and 7 blue on the power LED. It...

Lenovo ideapad 100-15 NM-A681 disable dGPU
        by someonenotyou
        Hi.

I have a Lenovo ideapad 100-15 with probably bad dGPU.
I tried to disable it by desoldering inductors going to dGPU.

        I desoldered 2 inductors (PL705 and L706) going to +VGA_CORE
        And 1 inductor (PL701) going to 1_05VS_LX.

Is there anything else I need to desolder?

If the PL701 is in place, I get fan spin at start, but nothing on the screen, no POST.
If PL701 is desoldered, there is no fan spin, but LCD gets powered on (without backlight), but no POST.

I have attached link to boardview and schematics.
