    UX31A (s)low transfer speed via USB 3.0

I'm having issues with this laptop transferring files to external HDD 8 TB which on desktop PCs gives me transfer of up to 100-120 MB/s constantly.
On laptop is not HDD it's some sort of an SSD so that should not be an issue.
Ofc is not issue with external HDD since it gives me max speed.
All the drivers are installed I suppose okay (device manager pics).
There are no official drivers on website for laptop,so only W10 drivers are installed.
But 21-25 MB/s is not even USB 2.0 transfer rate.
So can anyone help me resolve this issue and get max speed over this usb 3.0?

Be sure you have the latest Asus tool to update your OS:

    https://www.asus.com/supportonly/UX3...Desk_Download/

Perhaps it is a driver issue.

      Haven't installed none of these.
      W10 drivers.
I searched for Intel HM76 chipset drivers haven't found one on their website.
Yeah for sure it's driver or HW related.

Search around on your logic board to see if there is possibly a different USB 3.0 host controller. Also, sometimes the motherboard designers will use a USB hub controller. Varying with the quality of the hub, you may face slowdown issues if the hub is mated with slower USB 2.0 peripherals. Do you have a USB 3.0 thumbdrive that you can test with the similar benchmark tool ? Have you tested other USB connectors on this logic board? Do they benchmark the same ?

The ports are marked with blue, which means those are 3.0.
Same speed on both ports, yeah used usb 3.0 devices, pendrives, external HDDs doesn't matter.
Maybe I need to update the driver but none of them I found.

USB 3.0 controller is integrated into 7-series PCH. Native Windows 10 drivers should work fine.
Try from Linux to see if it is a software issue only with Windows.

Good idea, but I can only boot from live distro which is using USB port so speed would be limited.
                Agree?

Re: UX31A (s)low transfer speed via USB 3.0

If you use a USB 3.0 media to boot from, you should be fine to benchmark.

How many USB 3.0 ports on this box ?

Suspecting that you have a USB 3.0 hub controller between the PCH and this connector. Maybe the Superspeed interface lines are blown from ESD or similar event ?

Test on Linux and post your benchmark.

                    Only 2 USB ports.
It's not worth to do that because it will limit the transfer speed because one usb will be occupied with the usb pen drive containing live distro.

Transfer speed is greater..so it's W10 issue..wonder now what it is...

MacBook Pro A1708 - CPU extremely slow, locked @ 0.39ghz; fan full speed
                        by gjlpereira
                        Hi forum.

I'm working on a macbook pro, model a1708, that is running extremely slow.

Everything on it seams to work just fine, it just works extremely slow; painfully slow; especially running macos (windows and linux actually run OKish on it, slow, but usable).
One other symptom of the problem with the machine is that the fan is always running at full speed.

This machine has been worked on by someone else previously; they tried to repair it, but with no success. The motherboard does have sings of being worked on, but it all looks good/OK; like...

bug of the month: write caching setting for the hard drive in device manager
                        by ChaosLegionnaire
i recently bought a new wd re4 2tb with 2014 datecodes. when i got around to testing it tho in victoria hd tester, the write speed was very slow at 14 mb/s with a 256 sector transfer size. when i increased the transfer size to 1024 sectors, the write speed increased slightly to 44 mb/s. read speeds and sector verify speeds were fine and at normal speeds.

so i just ass-u-med the drive's poor performance was due to it being an advanced format drive and i was using it on winxp. when i tried cloning my system disk to this wd re4 2tb drive and writing to it in linux, the write speed...

                        Hi Guys,

I've got 2.2GHz i7 Logic board for MBP 15" A1398 Mid-2014 MacBook Pro. Received it with no past history. Did some microsurgery to move iSight adapter to it as it came to me with ripped pads for it and no connector. Have been waiting for a heatsink to arrive to start fully testing when assembled..

Everything seems working: booting / charging, however FANS run on full blast (MAX FAN RPMS)

Thought to check what ASD can point out and it gives no specific clue. It goes to certain point and then machine goes to sleep and does not come back on. Adding...

Hi. I had a problem with this laptop that under a load it would crash the system, meaning the screen would go black and unresponsive. I have noticed that CPU drivers surrounding area of PCB has changed colour due to high temperature. I have tried to reball the Drivers, but after it laptop wouldn't turn on at all and it would trigger over current protection in the PSU. I ordered and replaced 3 of of 5 Drivers (3 CPU, 2 IGPU?), and it started producing 1.2V again but just for a second. I get led flashing out the CPU failure code. Now I'm not sure whether there is still a problem with the drivers...

Upon installing the graphics drivers, my system freezes, and I am left with a black screen. Unfortunately, this issue has prevented me from utilizing the full capabilities of my AMD Radeon 520 graphics card.
