actually you do not need to buy so expensive tool, just prepare a EV2300 adapter, pay 10 USD to UBRT, they will unlock the battery for you, I just unlock two thinkpad T460 batteries with bq40z696a chip.

I love to see a tutorial how tu use the tool for unlocking laptop battery where to buy and where to get the software.

From a quick review - it is $10 per battery to unlock from UBRT? Surely this cannot be this difficult to unlock?

sometimes they can help you, but they said it is NOT a fixed service, they just think it is a demo for you.

EV2300 is a TI tool, maybe need 60 USD; but the market appear many EV2400 product made by Chinese vendor (copied version), it is quite cheap, maybe 20 USD in China;

the software, driver, all from https://ubrt.com.ua/
if you are luck, they will help you.

I also according my chip search from Google, then found the UA guy can unlock every battery, but, he just want to sell their software for service shop, each year 800 USD, and, if he like, he can remote login your PC, help you reset the battery (in PF state), actually, this is a good business since the laptop use the poly Li battery (made in China), as before, almost all the laptop use the Li-Ion battery, this one's quality is quite good, you never heard any battery cell voltage to 0 even you place the battery not in the laptop for two years, but now, the poly battery is quite poor, the self discharging current maybe is higher, then you take out the battery for several months or put in stock for several months, the battery cell's votage may drop to zero, then the voltage dropped to low than a threshold value, the controller chip will lock the battery, even you disassemble the battery, use the DC charger connect to the B+ and B-, full charge it, the controller also not release its lock, then you only need some tool to unlock (reset) it.

800 usd is a lot off money .then you can better use NLBA service.

That will be cheaper I think.

yes, if 800 USD, it is quite high, no one will fix one battery to spend 800 USD, but, if 10 USD, you can try

when you the software, will connect to internet check your login name, if can not get the authentication, then your software only can worked in demo mode, may not reset or change the info for battery, just read ?
