Motherboard to LCD EDP Cable for MSI GE75 10SF

    Hi,

I am trying to repair an MSI GE75 10SF laptop screen (the HDMI output works but the laptop screen doesn't).

I bought it without a screen in it second hand and was told it just needed a screen. I bought a 300hz screen for it, LCD model number B173HAN05.1, and a ribbon cable which I thought would connect the LCD to the board. The LCD fits into the frame OK but the LCD end of the ribbon doesn't fit into the connector on the LCD.

I attach photos of the motherboard end of the cable I bought (mbconnector.jpg), which fits correctly into the motherboard, and the other end of the cable which doesn't fit into the LCD (LCDEnd.jpg). I also attach a photo of the LCD input (Screen input.jpg).

This is the laptop specs page:
    https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GE75-Raid...176b3e5fS7gKgl

This is the LCD which I have technical details page:
    https://www.panelook.com/B173HAN05.1...ter_44168.html

This is the cable I have:
    https://es.aliexpress.com/item/40003...176b3e5fS7gKgl

The dimensions of the LCD are right, the refresh rate (300 hz) appears to be supported according to the MSI page (though I'm not 100% sure), and the resolutions match.

Could I get some help with whether I need another LCD at this point, or whether the B173HAN05.1 will work if I find the right cable?

If I find a way to connect the MB to this LCD will it likely work?

    Thanks for any help.

You could try an adapter http://forum.notebookreview.com/thre....834742/page-4 .If you find one on aliexpress make sure to read the reviews,i have no idea if they`re any good or not.

I think the problem with an adapter might be that there isn't enough space under the bezel. It's tight as it is. I might try though if I can't find a cable (and if anyone can confirm here if that LCD would work if connected using the right cable).

That one's for the GE75 10SFS-067 whereas my laptop model is the GE75 10SF-035, but I'm getting the impression it would be compatible.

If it is, then comparing with the screen I have already bought, it has the same resolution, number of pins, basic signal type (edp), number of lanes, dimensions, etc, but a couple of differences:

The monitor I have bought is listed as:
          144hz.
3.3v(typ.) input voltage. I am guessing typ. means typical.
          eDP1.3.

          That monitor is listed as:
          240hz.
          3.4v (typ.) vs. for mine.
          eDP1.4.

          https://www.panelook.com/B173HAN05.1...ter_44168.html

I have also just been told by MSI support that the original monitor for my model is a LQ173M1JW05, which according to one taobao page is compatible with the B173HAN05.0, which is also eDP1.4.

Anyone know if eDP1.3 and eDP1.4 are compatible, and if anything is likely to explode if I connect them?

Subject is a blank screen issue in HP Envy 17-3290NR 3D version laptop with motherboard Louis V1.1 6050A2489901 MB-A02. Production year is 2012. This one is a 2nd hand motherboard which I could use it for few months only. Suddenly no output from the internal display and also no signal from HDMI port then Windows out of order after few boots.

Caps lock working normally and no HP's caps-lock warning blinks. Making a hard reset and replacing the RAM sticks or using different slots didn't help.

Fans are spinning. Blindly could install windows11 and got the device manager...

            Hello to everyone.
My W26361-W84-X-02 motherboard starts but don't show image (no logo screen neither bios). Because, I have two of them I desoldered the bios chip from the no working motherboard and I soldered it to the working motherboard and the motherboard works OK, so the bios firmware isn't the problem. Below I took some measurements from the no working motherboard when is power on. Also, I replaced the RAM and didn't work again (maybe some pins from the RAM slot don't have the right voltage?). I replaced and the bios battery, and I made reset on the bios and again the problem didn't...

To fix laptop screen vertical line by working on its EDP cable
            by almarhum
Has one here really gone through fixing laptop screen vertical line(s) by repairing/replacing its Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable, so would recount and share the complete steps of the process here now?

As most, if not all, believe the laptop screen vertical line(s) caused by defective Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable which slipped and passed through either laptop screen hinge but post here is asking help to elaborate definitively the useful, real knowledge of repairing in the most complete, correct way, esp. can decide/determine whether the cable can still be fixed or must be re...

Lenovo Legion 5 15IMH05H No Display

I have a Lenovo Legion 5 15IMH05H 81y6003yUS that someone asked me to help them with a failing SSD. I installed a new SSD, fresh Win11 installation, updates, etc. Very standard stuff and everything was completed. He said he'll pick it up in a few days so I shut it down and set it aside.

A few days later came and now it won't POST an image, keyboard lights up, fans spin then shuts itself off after about 40 seconds. I've already tried the typical draining capacitance and removed CMOS battery, etc. No display on an external HDMI monitor as well.. No idea what happened. Suspected a BIOS...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
            by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...
