    Hello everyone,

Could someone please identify the burned element on CF-52MK3 board?
Not much information on those boards and don't have spare one at the moment
    Thank you in advance

Post the silkscreened motherboard part number, there might be a schematic available, and post the part number on the chip.

      Thanks for reply,

      Motherboard is CF-52MK3 DFU1912ZA (1)
Chip is almost completely burned, only readable part is "ADM2"

        ADM = Analog Devices.

        Wonder if this is a charge-pump style RS232 transceiver @ 28 pins?

Did this laptop feature a RS232 serial port ?

Hi, yes, it has RS232, and yes, I believe you're right about it.
My problem is, there is few and they all unfortunately
          start with ADM2

Ok. Check ADM213 - see attached datasheet and confirm the caps to the RIGHT side of this IC. Trace their pads with a meter to confirm they match the attached datasheet. Common part to source.

Fairly sure that your blow IC is:

            ADM211EARZ

            or

            ADM213EARZ

Both are of the same pinout but behave differently during shutdown of the part. During a shutdown, the 213 device remains active to wakeup the host PC with a mouse movement or external serial device.

I would suggest for you to source 1 of each of the following for testing:

            https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/d...11EARZ/1007300

            https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/d...213EARZ/820157

Was this the only problem with this logic board? If yes, use a hot air tool to remove and replace this part. Or have your local cell phone repair shop to do the same.

It looks like after all it is ADM213.
Placement of caps checks out according to datasheet.
Thank you very much for your help
