    Ok thanks, in my mind the bios received the 3.3v directly. I have check with thermal cam, no hot spot. And whitout schematics hard to trace the volatge and check the resistance. I have ask the schematics in the apropriate section....

  • Panasonic toughbook cf-h2 Mk1 no power, 3.3v-5v present but no 3v on bios chip

    Hello, i have a Panasonic Toughbook Cf-H2 Mk1 that won't power on. The battery charge without problem but no response from the laptop when i press the power button.
    I have disassemble and unpluged the cmos battery, same no power on on battery with and whitout the adapter, and only adapter
    I have check the voltage i have the main power rail ( +-16v normal for toughbook it's not 19v). I have on the coil after power management chip 3.3v and 5v.
    I have check the 3.3v on the power button ribbon cable attach to the motherboard and the voltage go to 0v when i press the button. So...

    SO i stop now to check because i think i have found the problem, there is a pad that are scrap on 3v/5v chip and i can't repair it, i have try with a tiny wire but no luck the chip become hot, i have try to swap the chip Rt8206b with TPS51427 i have on the other board ( it's the same) but same so i think there is another problem and now the laptop doesn't want to power on including with only the battery. Better luck next time. I hope this post can help another one. Thanks for your help mon2.

  • Re: Acer 5742G Power only on battery.

    I have continue to check why the laptop can boot with battery but no with adapter plug in and not with only adapter. So with only battery the gate of pq51 and PQ52 is at 12v so the 19v go to pq52 out whitout problem. If i plug the adapter or with the adapter only the gate saty a 18.84v so no 19v after pq52 but 18.52v.

    I manage to check one more time PU18 because it was the part with water damage and i think i have found one problem. So the pin 5 have 4.8v (around 4.3v is awaited on this pin i have seen on other post) with the battery...

  • Re: Acer 5742G Power only on battery.

    Thanks again.
    Here is the reading
    Range in 200M
    PQ62
    1-2-3 = go from 0.42m to 0.90m and continue to up by 0.01m each 5-10 seconds
    4 = oscilating 1.41m to 22m
    5-6-7-8 = 2.66M

    PQ64
    1-2-3 = 00.01k this in range 2k
    4 = go from 6M to out of range
    5-6-7-8 = go from 0.42m to 0.90m and continue to up by 0.01m each 5-10 seconds

    And i use an universal adapter but i can use an original acer adapter if needed.

    For the +RTCBATT . Whitout adapter i have 0.120v...

  • Re: Acer 5742G Power only on battery.

    Here is the voltage, i want to tell one more time i can get the good gate voltage only if i start the laptop whit the method i tell you so first plug the battery, then start the laptop, then plug adapter, then remove battery. If i just plug the adapter whitout this procedure i have gate voltage at 18.8v and the laptop no start and no charging led.

    So
    laptop start ( battery plug, power on, plug adapter, unplug battery )
    0.399v
    0.173v
    0.000v
    0.009v
    0.002v
    0.002v
    0.003v
    0.000v...

    Yes it work fine but i have to start the laptop with only the battery before, then plug the adapter and after that unplug the battery.

    And like i say just the message before, if i plug the battery and the cable i can't start the laptop, i have to start with only the battery or it's not power on

    So i can't let the laptop in that state....

    Oh and for info if i plug both the battery and the adapter , i can't power on the laptop this time. Previously before replacing the capacitor i can start with both battery and adapter but remember i have voltage after PQ52 that oscilate between 7 and 9v +-.

    So yes i can unplug the battery ( step is to plug the battery, power on the laptop, plug the adapter then light of charging appear, then unplug battery and the laptop continue working.
    And there is the voltage, this time it's good but i can let the laptop like this.

    Voltage
    PQ51
    5-6-7-8 = 19.035v
    1-2-3 = 19.025v
    4 = 8.081v

    PQ52
    1-2-3 = 19.025
    4 = 8.081v
    5-6-7-8 = 19.013v...
