MacBook Pro 13" A2289 SSD ISSUE

    Hello!

This macbook pro got repaired (water damaged) finally figured out what was wrong with it, (visible water damage in SSD areas). Replaced a few caps and now we got power then after a day or so the power stopped. Tested the board it gets 20.0V and then rises to 1.22 amps then restarts. So we tried DFU mode and it was able to boot into DFU mode and the board would get 2.89 amps. Nextly it wont do this without DFU. Tried doing a restore and also revive and DFU mode gives me and ERROR that the restore cannot go into recovery mode so yup SSD is the issue.

Tested caps C9074,C9073 and so on for this area for PPBUS_G3H_SSD0 and I am getting voltage on this rail side.

But when trying to test for voltage on PP2v5_NAND_SSD0
There is no voltage present and the entire row of
C9094,C9095,C9096, etc. have no voltage present. So I am assuming there is a short in this area that has failed. can someone help me understand PP2v5_NAND_SSD0 in this area? Also the board gets power and gets hot and turns on in loop sequence which it lets me get into DFU mode but this means the recovery is not working because portion of the SSD area is not working. Any suggestions?

I attached the area in question:

    Exact resistance to ground?

Hey Piernov, do you think they got a Boardview for this board yet? I am using the PDF to locate everything but a boardview will be great now.

Hey Piernov, I injected voltage into the line and it gives about 2.5volts on all rails, I think I found the short and guess what it was . u8700 chip has to be replaced. RIP! I have a donor board that has this chip. You have any suggestions?

I guess you have to replace NAND chips together with T2 chip.

Replacing the NAND chips and performing T2 DFU recovery may be enough.

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
              by rounin
              Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

              🛠 Original Issue
              The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

              MacBook Pro 13" 2020 A2289 - Board issue
              by Stephen
Customer brought in computer for data recovery, was successful in retrieving data however it would not let us reinstall or load an operating system. Did a DFU RESTORE and that was successful, computer launches and goes into internet recovery, however it crashes once it hits 3/4 the way and starts over again. It did this when we tried to load recovery before the DFU restore and assumed maybe a restore would resolve this issue, sadly it does not. Removed the logic board and inspected the board and it does not have any signs of visible liquid damage or any signs of burns or faulty chip areas....

Subject: Help Needed: MacBook A1278 (3115) No PPBUS_G3H Issue

              Hello everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook A1278 with the 3115 logic board and facing an issue with no PPBUS_G3H voltage. Here's what I've checked so far:
              1. U7000 Measurements:
                • Pin 3 has 0V, even though R7012 shows 16.5V from PPDCIN_S5_CHGR.
              2. Resistors:
                • I measured R7010 and R7011 with one leg disconnected, and both tested OK.

Based on these findings, I believe U7000 needs to be replaced. However, I have a related question:
              • If I also decide to replace the SMC, do I need to order it pre-programmed,

              Macbook a1707 2017 model 820-00928 GPU issue
              by sofles
              Hello there

I have problem with Macbook Pro 15" 2017, model 2017, MB code 820-00928.

I bought it as broken with some artefacts on the screen, first I thought that this is problem with ribbon cable but after inspectiing ribbon cable I know it is fine. I tried to reinstall macOs and then I figured out that this must be something with GPU as installation freezes at the end (when drivers are loaded). I installed Windows and was able to install every each of drivers except GPU driver, as soon as I tried to install GPU driver - black screen and restart.

MacBook Pro A2289 (820-01987-A) No boot/image, but boots to DFU
              by baglaivlad
Hi everyone. Just a reminder I am not a professional repair technician, fixing Apple electronics is my hobby.

Recently got my hands on MacBook Pro A2289 with interesting behavior. Pristine condition, no water damage, no visual issues whatsoever. It has no image, no CapsLock, no life except the fan is spinning. But it is able to boot into DFU and recognized by another MacBook. I tried to revive and restore the laptop, but the process ends when the MacBook usually should show an Apple logo with a progress bar. I assume the main power lines and T2 are working. It seems like the Intel...
