Asus X555LA autostarts when charger in. OK on battery

    Laptop Asus F554L
    Motherboard X555LA Rev 3.3 ;P/N : 60NB0810-MB1610 with soldered Intel i3 5010U. no graphic CPU
I received the laptop as working, but with 3 problems :
    1) Laptop display not working, but ok with external monitor connected via HDMI
    2) Keyboard not working, but ok with external USB keyboard
    3) Laptop starts up and boots windows as soon as charger is connected, without pressing power on switch. Laptop always automatically reboots after shutdown or pressing power off switch if charger is connected. Everything ok if battery only is connected : it is possible to power on /power off by switch and does not reboot by itself after windows shutdown.
I used boardview and repair guide attached to https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=70958

Problem 1 solved by fixing the display LED backlight circuitry, as laptop display was working but without backlight.
Problem 2 solved by cleaning the keyboard connector.
Problem 3 is still open and driving me crazy. Every thing works fine and I managed to install and use Windows 10 without a problem. Battery charges fine. But if AC charger present laptop automatically boots itself.
So far I did the following checks/tests:
    - There is no CMOS battery on this board, but I tried to reset config by shorting many times JRST2201 and JRST2202
    - Cleaned MB with isoprophilic alcohol:no change
    - Looked for some autostart parameter in BIOS : found none.
    - Reset BIOS to deafults and tried to disable Fast Start, lid open and all boot parameters : no change
    - Removed all connectors from MB : no change
    - Tried a different power supply or new battery: no change
    - Replaced SIO chip with new IT8585E FXA (which regularly reprogrammed itself at first boot)
    - Installed latest BIOS using ASUS EZ flash utility : no change
    - Checked 3.3v on power on switch and signal and it goes low as expected when pressed (same as line PWR_SW#) . The PWR_SW# line never goes down by itself when attaching or using the charger, but goes low as expected when pressing the switch both with mains and on batteries.
    - Line PM_PWRBTN# regularly goes to 0v for a short while after pressing the switch and goes back to 3.3v. At this point it stays at 3,3V if on mains or goes to 0V if on battery (I don't know if this is correct)

Windows has nothing to do with the problem as it happens even with just the MB.
It looks like the typical problem which can be solved by resetting the CMOS or flashing the bios or replacing SIO, but not this time.
After fixing many laptops which could not boot I am running out of ideas on how to repair this one which auto starts !?!
    Any help is highly appreciated

The number 5 pillar of the battery is 3.3 v RTC signal foot, the problem can be solved by installing external 3V battery. + 3v end will be connected to r2234 resistor

Re: Asus X555LA autostarts when charger in. OK on battery

I checked mosfet's as er ktmmotocross suggestion, but found no problem.

I then followed Sametbey's suggestion to install a 3V battery between pin 5 of the battery and GND (LDO_V3.3) and problem is solved !!!!
Now there is no autostart when charger is in the laptop.

Thanks Sametbey! I spent days checking power on sequence and solution was elsewhere.

Just one question for the experts : from what I understood the battery is supposed to provide 3V for RTC on pin 5. From what I saw neither the original battery (still working) nor the new one I bought (not original) give 3V on pin 5 to support rtc. How is this possible?

        Thanks again!

from what i know the ITE 8585E is programable and x555 dont have EC bios ic

Original battery is faulty. but the new battery doesn't provide 5 pin 3v? Should the bios be reset when new battery is installed? update to data.

I did some measurements with the new battery installed and found out that:
-there are 0V on pin 5 when no charger is connected
-there is a NEGATIVE voltage varying between -0,4 and -1,2V on pin 5 when charger is connected

So I run into a faulty or not fully compatible OEM battery which I will try to return to seller to get a working one. In case this is not possible I will leave the external battery as a workaround.

              Thanks again for your help!!

Right, X555LA has just one main BIOS chip (8MBytes chip).
EC chip is a programmable IT8585 chip : I installed a new unprogrammed chip and it was automatically programmed at first boot. So for this kind of motherboard there is no need to buy a programmed one.

ASUS X571 no power : battery issue?
                    by mkdj
                    Hello everyone,

                    Mark and model: ASUS X571
Symptoms: not turning on. There is only the LED battery indicator working. The owner of the laptop told me this problem arrived one week after having changed the battery. He then managed to power on the laptop only once, and then it never powered on again.

                    Tests already made:
                    - Battery is charging when laptop is plugged in. The LED battery indicator turns white after a couple of hours of charge, indicating that battery is fully charged. However, laptop won't turn on anyway, with or without AC plug.
                    - I have removed...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                    by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Bauer tool battery pack charging with a HERCULES charger modification
                    by sam_sam_sam
The Bauer power tool battery charger just has to many issues with the charger over heating because I several HERCULES Hercules battery chargers that are 3 amp charge and because they have gone on quite a few times over the years before they came out with the fan cooling battery charger I going to modify one so I can charge Bauer battery packs faster than the crape battery charger that they have

Here is how this modification is going to be done I taking a 1.5 amp hour battery enclosure and gutting it removing the battery cells and replacing some Ryobi 1.5 amp hour battery pack that...
