Hold on, you said pin 7 is pulsing, and pin 7 is hold signal? That is not normal at all, is the PCH resetting continuously? Maybe a good time for a scope on the rest of its signal lines?

Yes, it is. Pulsating only in OFF state, its a steady 3.3V once laptop is turned ON. As for the PCH resetting, I am not so sure since all the signals coming out of the PCH (as per repair guide) are stable.

Which signals? The once where you would expect to see activity (LFRAME, etc) shows none. Any suggestion as to which I should test/scope?

Frankly I am out of my depth here. This is definitely not supposed to happen, and if the PCH is doing that, it's either because something causes it to reset repeatedly, or an internal damage to the chip. It is possible that some passive element around it is broken and causes a power reset or something like this. But I dont know how to debug this other than oscilloscoping the hell out of it looking for clues.

            Update:
Am definitely sure issue is now PCH related. The replacement PCH ended up being faulty. I am still waiting on receiving another replacement but in the meantime I got a donor board with an almost similar chipset.

I tried it out of curiosity (and also hoping it would work) but no dice. I do however now have healthy BIOS signal at start up.

HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2523nd - Dimm2 slot disabled after corrupt bios repair? Advice requested.
                by Bloodhoundje
                Hi everyone,

I have been doing hardware repair as a hobby for some years now and recently decided to learn about repairing laptops as a fun challenge.

I managed to get my hands on a "HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2523nd" notebook that only shows a white power LED and doesnt respond to anything.

After initial testing I concluded the bios seems to be corrupted since all voltages are normal and there are no shorts. HP has a feature for a bios restore from USB with winkey+B for this model. This did not work.

I have desoldered the bios chip (GigaDevice...

Lenovo laptop does not turn on, what does this number mean in a BIOS chip?
                by thxd43
Hello, first of all, excuse me, I am using the translator, English is not my native language.

                I have a Lenovo ideapad 330S - 14IKB laptop.

The tablet did not recognize me when I connected it, so I checked the device manager and I realized that there were many with the exclamation mark, so one by one I began to update their drivers until the sign disappeared of admiration, I even updated the BIOS, and the laptop rebooted normally and worked, so far so good, but the tablet still did not recognize me, I read on the internet that it could be due to a...

BIOS Help Regarding GM5IX7A-GM6IX7A Origin Laptop
                by legendkray
                Hi,
I have OriginPC EON 15SL, however, my laptop starts and shutsdown after 1-2 second. Keyboard leds are coming on then fans spinning then it shutsdown and not turning back on unless I plug out the power cable and plug it in. I had issues with bricked BIOS then I flashed BIOS I got from the vendor to the SPI chip and still it didn’t worked because my EC firmware was newer than the BIOS I have flashed. So I wanted to try flashing the EC chip with the correct firmware that matches with the BIOS also from the vendor and it worked everything was well, and then stupid me wanted to unlock some...

Problem with PANASONIC CF53 laptop after changing BIOS settings
                by AquaMan Ua
Hello. I am asking you for a hint on how to solve the problem with my touchbook Panasonic CF53-2 standart model. After setting up the BIOS, the laptop displays the wrong image until Windows loads. (More precisely, it displays, but distorted, instead of the Panasonic image immediately after turning it on, it displays what is in photo #1 in the attached file) Then the image appears when Windows starts loading and then there are no problems with the screen until the reboot. If you enter the BIOS, just a black screen. If you connect an external screen, the image on it is the same as on the built-in...
