    A2159 820-01598-06, charging but not running from batt

    Hi All,

    I'm diagnosing a A2159 with the following issue
    After waterdamage the device won't run from battery, when USB-C is connected it runs fine, battery seems to be charged, battery state is readout correctly, but when charger gets disconnected the machine shuts off.

    I think it must have to do something with the circuit that combines the PPBUS_G3H and PPDCIN via the two diodes. In previous models this was done via a BAT30 SOT-323.

    I tried to locate the PP3V3_G3H regulator but can't find anything on the board that I can identify as such

    as many other people mentioned, unfortunately no schematics/brd available for this new device.

      reply to self,

      I suspect the battery board to be toast, when I measure the pads with nothing connected I measure ~12v, when i connect it to the board it drops to about 3v

      I found the input circuit... found also that when I apply 12v @5A to the capacitor near the batt flex (with no batt connected) it runs from my fake battery
      (see my annotated image I uploaded)

          your battery is shot from the water damage

                  The charging indicator light on my ASUS X54H laptop is always on even when the charger is disconnected.

                  Windows also shows ''Plugged in'' when charger is not connected.

                  This problem started year ago gradually, when unplugging the charger the charging light took several seconds to disappear, then minutes, and now almost always on even when unplugged for an entire day.
                  Strangely, before sometimes immediately when plugging in the charger the charging light went away, and later came back with it connected.
                  If I let battery run out and say it has 3% Windows will...

                  HP Probook 470 G4 - Power and Charging Problem

                  Looking for some help with this one if anybody can assist please? I have an HP Probook 470 G4 Laptop which recently started to intermittently failing to turn on, with intermittent white LED light(charging LED) by the charging port when it should have been charging and showing an orange LED instead. Definitely some sort of gradual failure. Now the laptop fails to power on at all, no charging LED, no Power Button LED either - seemingly dead.
                  Stripped down to the bare motherboard. The original HP battery, when disconnected from the motherboard, is reading 0.00v - possibly some sort of protection...

                  I have two TCL A30 phones.

                  Old Phone: This phone worked fine for years, then stopped charging If you plugged a charger into it, the phone would make the charging sound, the phone would tell you it is charging, but the battery icon would not have the charging symbol in it and the battery would not charge.I tried new battery, same behavior.

                  New Phone: Works fine, bought as a donor board to try and repair Old Phone

                  My interest here is to repair Old Phone, using components parts off New Phone if needed. I am not interested in replacing Old Phone with New Phone....

                  Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45 not charging

                  Hi there. I am trying to repair an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45 and it's giving me some trouble. I have access to SMD rework station, variable power supply, digital oscilloscope, thermal camera, multimeter, stereo microscope.
                  This laptop will boot and run from the power brick and/or the internal battery, but it will not charge the battery. NirSoft BattInfo tells me the charge/discharge currents, so I'm confident in saying that it's not charging. In addition, there's no increase in voltage at the battery connector when the laptop thinks it's charging, not even a few millivolts.
