LG L90 can't hear callers and they can't hear me

Hi. My wife has this problem on her phone.

She can make calls and accept calls but she can't hear the caller and they can't hear her.

The ringtone plays fine so the speaker is working.

However we have discovered that if she answers a call and presses Speaker Phone she can then hear the caller (through the normal earpiece not the speaker) and the caller can hear herl. What is causing this problem?

As its my wife's phone I will have zero credibility if I can't fix it lol

Nope. I can post pics of the phone. It seems to me the hardware is working. The ringtone works so the amplifier and speaker are working. The earpiece and microphone work when she selects speaker mode and the phone receives and transmits calls. So all the component parts appear to function but as a whole it doesn't, apart from in a non sensical way.

Replace the mic-its faulty for sure.

I won't contradict the advice as I never repaired phones so I knows nothing, but I do wonder why the mic works when speakerphone mode is selected. If the mic is faulty why would it do that?

some phones i notice have two mics im sure on your phone you can change one as its on a flex

check the headphone jack of the phone ..
