Re: Macbook pro A1278 green light but no power

DON't understand your reading. you need to connect(fixed) the black probe of your multimeter to ground . and the red probe to the lines i mentioned one by one . and give reading on diode mode

Re: Macbook pro A1278 green light but no power

if PPBUS_G3H is 5.29 on diode mode it's a short on that line

Re: Macbook pro A1278 green light but no power

ppbus_g3h is not shorted since it has good 12.5 volts.

          report bios pins voltages.

every Louis Rossmann and every other video says diode mode is red to ground does this mean there all wrong

                    WEIRD !!!!! you said ppbus_g3h 12.5v and on diode mode 0V ?????????????
are you sure you are doing theses tests while adapter disconnected ?????

yes in diode mode with black to ground its 0
with red to ground its 515

with power connected i get 12.5v

which value do you get on multimeter on diode mode when probes(black and red) in the air (without touching any components)

give ohm values of the S5 S4 and SUS lines . wanted to be sure there is no short at theses lines before we go further more

OK SO IT MEAN THAT IF YOU TOUCH THE PROBES TOGETHER (SHORT) YOU WILL GET 0 . also mean that if you put red probe on ground and black probe on ppbus_g3h and have 515 , so you should not have 0 if you reverse ( mean red probe on ppbus_g3h line and black probe on ground )

also wanted to say BIOS is not involve at this stage (at sus state bios is supply) . S5 state is not OK so you will never have the other state . normally it is in this order G3 S5 SUS S4 S3 and S0 last
