    2011 MBP - 820-2936-A - AHT Error

A little background ... battery swollen to the point of pushing the touchpad up. Computer powers on, start the boot, shows an Apple logo and the spinning wheel. Left sitting for a while, the wheel is still spinning. Pulled the hard drive and ran a diag on it, passes ok.

Boot into AHT ... quick test result 4SNS - VDOR. I understand this is Voltage DC Circuit. I don't see many MBP's wander into my shop. Any pointers on what to look for?

I checked out the current sensing resistors, all seems fine there. ISL problem maybe?? Or should I be looking for something else? I'm guessing because of the sensor error, this thing is now running in a reduced performance state. But even after an hour, it still hadn't loaded the login/desktop. Just a spinning wheel. With or without the battery connected.

SMC is flat on the board.... that's not normal is it??

Doesn't appear to have been replaced. If so, was a nice clean job. However, I don't see these all that often, but I don't recall seeing an SMC flat on the board before. Under the scope, there is no gap, no balls to be seen.

I've checked out all of the sensing related circuits ... everything seems to point back to SMC. So I was checking it out under the scope.

Pulled SMC, reballed .... still same error with AHT.

Still no idea what this error indicates.

Went ahead and pulled the SMC, reballed ok.

Found corrupt file system on hdd. Scrubbed and install OSX ok. Boots and runs fine now. Replaced battery as well.

BenQ TH681 Originally overheating now wont fire the lamp - Colour wheel not starting
          by AJ847.63e
          Hi All.

Does anyone have any reference materials or something I can use to try troubleshooting a BenQ TH681? Google unfortunately has turned up zip. I did find a service manual for a W series BenQ but that is pretty much useless, it's more a glorified user manual. A list of voltages would be great as I suspect my mainboard is faulty, the colour wheel voltage is not dipping like it should.

The one I am troubleshooting now was originally overheating after a lamp replacement. It originally would take 2 minutes or so for it to shut off and blink the temp and lamp lights...

          Hofmann geodyna 6300 Wheel balancer
          by Grouickman
          Hi there,

First, I'm not sure it's the right section to post for this type of device, but could not think of something better.

Ok, so my son (a mechanic) bought a faulty Hofmann Geodyna 6300 wheel balancer (which appears to be mostly a re-branded Snap-on wheel balancer).

I'm looking for any resources (doc, manuals, schematics) that would be available for this device or anyone that would have any knowledge on this particular device (or its Snap-On equivalent).

I'm trying to diagnose the fault(s ?), but I can't find any schematic (appart from the...

          Motorized 3-Wheel Dolly Help
          by buoi bien hoa
          Hi everyone in this forum,

My name is Phong, and I have been a handyman working for hotels for 20 years. It's becoming a bit too heavy for me to carry the PTAC units to wash them every year. I'm looking for ideas on how to convert my 3-wheel dolly into a 12V motorized dolly. I would appreciate any suggestions on where to buy the parts or any general help to get me started with this task. The capacity should be around 100 to 200 pounds, but my current 3-wheel dolly has a total capacity of about 600 pounds. Sorry if my english is not too good.

          Thank you for your help!...

Yoga 9 14ITL only left fan spinning
          by trepachka
Hi, I have this laptop that had multiple issues: a bad USB-C chip, a bad power regulator, a bad ALC3306 chip. The latter stumped me because I never had an audio chip cause any issues. Yet, it was heating up to 80c.

After all of these got replaced, the laptop is working again but only the left fan is spinning upon heat buildup. The right one is not spinning ever. I had a spare heatsink/fan assembly which I installed but the problem is not going away. So, the fan itself is ok. I checked pins on the fan connector and it does get 5v and 3.3v.

          I don't think it's the thermal...
