    +1.05vtt_pwr cpu and pch power rail short to ground

    DELL N5040 DV 15 CP UMA MB 10263-1

    This laptop came as no power ,first check 19v rail was short to ground and removed easily .cap was pc 4813

    then checked PL4902 short to ground as shown in the picture .

    I failed many time when injecting voltage to this rail . and i have checked PC4901,PC4910,PT4902,PT4901 all are ok.

    please give an advice any expertise regarding this matter.

    hi,

    im no expert but you can try checking +1.05V_CPU rail
    C4901 and dual channel FET PQ4901 are few of the candidates

            Re: +1.05vtt_pwr cpu and pch power rail short to ground

            if I understand well , you have removed the coil PL4902 and the short is on the right side, on +1.05VTT_PWR -> +1.05v_pch ?
            If you can not isolate this branch (+1.05v_pch), one method is to desolder a lot of components,I don't remove the component, but I positioning it vertically on one of his pad (when is possible).
            C2601 & C2602 -> VCCCORE
            C2613 ->
            C2704 & C2705 & C2708 & C2710
            C2728 & C2729 & C2730
            C2725
            PC4901 -> not in place
            PT4902 ->
            L2702 & L2703
            probably there is a short inside the pch
            Or remove
            Pl4902 and PR4912 and inject a 1.05 V 1.5 A and try to find a cold component

              cant read well, but remove pg4908 jump and pr4903 and see if still short. if yes short is on some caps (pc4901 ... etc etc) , otherwise is in cpu.

              edit: be sure what cpu is in it. some cpu like series 3 intel i7 3710QM will show 001 or short on coil, but it is completely normal to have very low value....

                      hello everyone , working zebronics power suply 450 watts , 5v ,3.3v givin short to ground black wire, also in circuit at output, resistor was charred but shows right values , after removing resistors 39ohms, 51 ohms, there was no short , no continuity beeps with ground , but after replacing new resistors (now i am not switching it on) ,again short still exists . when i put bigger ohm resistor like 100k ohm , no short beeping sound comes , lower ohm resistor gives continuity beeps ,other big ones donest , as its a working psu , i am confused what to remove now or how to go further now .

                      I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

                      Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

                      I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

                      The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

                      With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                      Assuming...

                      by Victor Moreira Silva
                      Hello everyone,

                      I'm trying to repair my old Acer Nitro 5 (AN517-54-55T5). I've already bought a new laptop, so this is more of a learning project. For the experience, with no high expectations of success.

                      Well, my decice specs are the following:

                      Model: Acer Nitro 5 AN517-54-55T5
                      CPU: Intel Core i5-11400H
                      GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
                      Motherboard: GH51G LA-L181P Rev:1c

                      The symptom:
                      When pressing the power button, the power LED lights up for about 5 seconds and then turns off. Initially, the issue was intermittent: sometimes...

                      Hi,

                      Try to repair a Thinkpad P72 EP720 NM-B723 MB with I7-8850H processor and N18E-Q1-KB-A1 (P3200) GPU with 6GB memory. Unfortunately there is noinfo what happened to the laptop. I got it disassembled with parts missing, like keyboard, battery.

                      Unfortunately I have no schematic available for me (requested in the sub porum) but got the boardview file.

                      Symptom: after connecting to the charger the power led light up for one-two second and switch off. After a couple secons the power led light up for half a second and switch off. No battery, no IO board, no...

                      9th Gen Dell Optiplex Micro PC motherboard repair: Short Circuit?
                      by Geeker007
                      Hi All, I have a 9th Gen Dell Optiplex micro PC motherboard which doesn't power on. When I connect the motherboard with power adapter, it goes into safe mode and turns off. So from info I have gathered online, it looks like there is a short circuit on the motherboard. So can you guys help me with figuring out the issue?

                      I am new to electronics repair, so my queries could be naive but I am ready to learn.

                      So I have a multimeter and a solder with me. But I can try to get a variable voltage power supply with a thermal camera as well. From what I seen online, best way is...
