Hot news on a manner of speaking they were really "hot" Just received Laird

          laird thermal pad result:

          Thermal conductivity: 4.5 W/m/K
          Thermal diffusivity: 2.5 mm2/s
          Volumetric specific heat: 1.8 MJ/m3K

          K5-pro (why pro?)

          Thermal conductivity: 0.587 +/- 0.001 W/m/K
          Thermal diffusivity: 0.333 +/- 0.003 mm2/s
          Volumetric specific heat: 1.76 +/- 0.02 MJ/m3K

bottom line at least for me, will continue to use K5-pro until stock run out in vram or appliances that require extreme flexibility.

What you're saying is that K5-Pro is more of a thermal insulator than it is a conductor?

Anyone using this K5-pro? Do you have experience with it?

thickness of thermal pads for Alienware M15 R1
                by sancho76
Hi, somebody knows the thickness of thermal pads for M15 R1? Or if someone have this Alienware model, can take measure for original thermal pads.

Laptop overheating after replacement thermal paste
                by Veyron7887
Hi. I have Asus X55C laptop from year 2013. It has i3-2328M CPU. I replaced stock thermal paste with high quality thermal paste. Before thermal paste replacement, I measured CPU temperature Around 65-70 degrees Celcius with stock thermal paste. If after the replace thermal paste, I measured CPU temperature around 80-84 degrees Celcius and fan don't stop when system is idle. I replaced the thermal paste several times but still did not change. Where is the problem?

Dell Latitude 5570 Ambient thermal sensor reading -127 Degrees C
                by Gcnewbie
Forgive me this is my first request for help on this forum, so if i've screwed up or not followed the rules i should have i apologise profusely.

I have a Dell Latitude 5570 that was randomly shutting down, on further investigation i found that the machine had been shutting down due to thermal events as noted by windows event viewer.
My investigations lead me to the dell diagnostics screen, where i found that there were two sensors out of range which had been causing the shutdowns, one of which was the GPU thermal sensor and the other the ambient sensor.
                I opened the...

                Oily thermal pads
                by madan1
                Hi everyone.

a quick question - is it normal thermal pads to be oily? I mean - used thermal pads ( already installed ).
I do not have much experience with those, only bought new ones with adhesive and they were dry.
So, is it normal the thermal pads to appear moist/oily ( probably to help the thermal conductivity ) or this is a clue for a water damage or something else?

Thermal compounds / pads and thermal conductivity.
                by Spork Schivago
                Hi!

I bought 12 grams of Arctic Silver 5. I also bought IC Diamond 24 carat. The IC Diamond has synthetic diamonds in it and from what I've read, it's supposed to be really good. People using it even say it's better than Arctic Silver 5. To me, this made sense, because this is what the data sheet of IC Diamond says:
                Code:
Purified synthetic diamond has a thermal conductivity of 2,000-2,500 W/mK compared to 406-429 W/mK for pure silver.
The website also says this (or the place I bought it from). Today, I get some thermal pads in the mail that have...
