    A1707 20V 0.01A and does nothing.

    Hi all,
we have a MacBook A1707 with 820-00928-A motherboard that switches to 20V but drain just 0.01Ah.
Customer declared that this machine is used "as desktop" (always connected in the wall, and nearly never moved from his spot). No signs of liquid damage or burns inside, but there's a low resistance on PPBUS_G3H.
Injecting 1V makes PCH to immediately heat a bit (picture attached), so I guess there's a shorted mosfet or something like that somewhere. We still not removed the heatsinks to check if this happens on CPU/GPU too, but I'm here to ask were to start to inspect at least for PCH because there's no direct connection at all from PPBUS_G3H and PCH's mosfets (instead, CPU and GPU have theyr shunt resistor between PPBUS_G3H and mosftes, but for PCH I got lost, lol).

    Thank you.

I'm not following exactly. PP1V0_SUS is generated from PPBUS_G3H via U8000. From your thermal image I would say your PCH is toast as the heat in towards one edge/corner. Normally PCH should measure at least 50 ohms or more on that power rail at ambient temperate (resistance goes down if board or chip is hot). If the PCH is dead, you won't get PM_SLP_S4 etc.

Yeah, U8000 were shorted. I feel bad about the PCH. Didn't check the resistance yet (just removed the U8000 and checked PPBUS_G3H), but I guess it's gone :/

        Thank you!

          A1707 - No internal display
          by obelix24
I got two Macbook's Pro 15" A1707 both fully working except no image on internal LCD.

I've checked and it looks like it's problem with U9850 (on both pin 1 on screen connector is 0.007 or 0.050 in diode mode)

My question is if this IC can be ordered from Aliexpress (will it work) ?? or it needs to be taken directly from donor (a1707, a1990, a2141) ?

Is this IC interchangeable (on my board i have 6142E and i found that there can be also HD3SS212) are this chips same ? ? Is it possible to find this IC on some other Macbook 13" (air, pro) ?? i have...

          A1707 820 281 jumps from 5v -16v on amp meter then restarts
          by jma46
Hi sorry to Hijack this thread, I have an A1707 820 281 which jumps from 5v -16v on amp meter then restarts, I have checked big coils for shorts, ppbus and all seems ok. Im thinking there is a short which is causing it to reboot but I'm out of ideas? Also another A1707 where the internal SSD is not showing in terminal or disk utility? No excessive heat from SSD chips?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

MacBook Pro A1707 Won’t Boot – No Display, Fans Spin Briefly
          by Herby94
          Hi everyone,
I’m currently having an issue with my MacBook Pro (A1707). It doesn’t power on or make any sounds.
          • The charger is a generic third-party unit that had a loose connection at the AC input (127VAC). I fixed it, and now it delivers 20VDC to the laptop.
          • When connected, the fans spin for about 30 seconds before shutting off.
          • No display, no audio, and no signs of life during this time.

Any ideas? Could this be a logic board issue, or is the charger still a problem? Thanks in advance!...

          Apple MacBook A1707 No Audio/Sound
          by tommy97
          Hi,

I'm having an issue with an A1707 MacBook Pro—there's no audio output. Initially, the MacBook came in with a no-power problem, and I found a faulty U6400, which I've now replaced. The laptop now powers on, but there's still no sound.

I've also replaced U6300, but the problem persists.

Here are the current voltage readings:
          • PPV18_S0: 1.8V
          • R6402: 1V
          • R6405: 1V
          • R6403: 1V
          • AUD_SPKRAMP_RESET_L: 1.3V
          • PPBUS: 12.6V
