    A1707 820 281 jumps from 5v -16v on amp meter then restarts

Hi sorry to Hijack this thread, I have an A1707 820 281 which jumps from 5v -16v on amp meter then restarts, I have checked big coils for shorts, ppbus and all seems ok. Im thinking there is a short which is causing it to reboot but I'm out of ideas? Also another A1707 where the internal SSD is not showing in terminal or disk utility? No excessive heat from SSD chips?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Removed R6907 and now sometimes reaching 20v but not stable and still rebooting 5v 14v 20v? Suspecting U7000

Would you have a thermal camera? Check for who is heating up.

Measure the voltage to ground of PPBUS_G3H @ F7000/F7001. Check both sides of the fuses. What is the measurement?

Remove all power. Meter in resistance mode. Measure the resistance to ground of F7000/7001. Post each measurement.

Yes I have one, but nothing heating up
        F7001 pin 1 4.59v 16v and drops pin 2 4.5v 5.1v and drops
        F7000 pin 1 4.59v - 17v and drops pin 2 4.59v -16v and drops
Both constantly fluctuating and not stable
        F7001 pin 1 1.3Kh and dropping slow pin 2 1.168 Kh
        F7000 pin 1 1.062kh pin 2 1.129kh
Dia mode F7001 / F7000 .430 both sides both fuses

Remove both fuses and check if PPBUS_G3H is stable or not.

Almost the same with fuses removed, sometimes goes up to 20v sometimes 14v - 16v ? 96w charger etc?

Should have asked that earlier. Are you using a stable usb c power with a 100W rated cable? Test with 100W adapter of the recommended Apple adapter. Let us rule out the power source.

Is it possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue meter?
                by chth96
I read EBOOK of Testing Electronic Component and found that

"In order to test the small blue resin coated ceramic disk capacitor which has 104 50v specification,it is possible to test this small ceramic capacitor by making use of analogue meter.
Set to times 10Kohm that has 12v output from the probe to check disorder of ceramic capacitor.
It is not uncommon that testing result of digital capacitance meter is okay,But It show shorted reading when you check it with analogue meter."

Is it really possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue...

MacBook Pro a2442 - 20v restart every second
                by obelix24
I just got one MacBook Pro a2442 (M1 Pro) there was small liquid damage.

Board starts normally at 5V and then jumps to 20V but after few seconds USB-C meter restarts (on every port) - sometime 1 or 2 times it's start and doesn't restart.

There was hotspot on U5200 (but it looks like on PIN1 (CHGR_GATE_Q4) but I've check in diode mode and it was ok reading (but I've replaced it anyway but still the same ...

There was corrosion around UR660, UR630, UR600 but I've checked all CAPS and it looks ok ...

When I connect USB-C meter and check with...

Modification of a Fluke multi meter that uses three AA batteries to use a 14500 lithium ion battery
                by sam_sam_sam
I have had with regular AA batteries that leak this meter is expensive new I already replaced the battery battery clips once and the same thing happened again and I am tried of so it is getting modified to accommodate lithium ion batteries that are the same size excluding the positive terminal and removing the battery clips I will have enough room for the BMS protection board

I going to put 3 lithium ion battery in parallel with the BMS protection board and a way to charge the battery externally and heat shrink the battery pack and use a JST connector so I easily remove the battery...

Asus B85M-GAMER no hdmi output and random restarts
                by Prosatanosz
                Hi!

Asus B85M-GAMER absolute no hdmi output (not at start, not at Windows), and random restarts. Everything work, except hdmi and random restarts after 0.1-3 min. Restarts even in bios. On VGA Windows boots up fast, games and apps starts ok. Mem, psu, cpu changed, no luck. I need shematic, because i think the restarts caused by the hdmi failure.

Changing the scale of an analog meter
                by jorpec
                Hi

I want to change the scale of an analog meter, to monitor the charge of an li-ion single cell, so the needle at the end would point 4.2 volts and the 0 on the meter would point 2.5 volts or so, i tried to add diodes or a zener in series with the meter but the changes of the ambient temperature also changes the voltage value on the meter
I wonder how i can accomplish this so the meter would be precise at any temperature ?

                Thnaks
