Macbook 820-02773 Board short when trackpad connected

Original fault was customer spilled milk on unit, no corrosion was found on the board. Took mainboard out of original case and LCD and swapped it into the fully functioning case and LCD.

Shorts show up all over the board when trackpad is connected only. Trackpad is used and fully functioning from another unit of same model. Voltage injection causes trackpad connector to get hot but nothing else, swapped on board connector to rule that out, same issue. Diode reading on IPD_MCU_INT_CONN is higher then reference board @ .935 expected is .803. Shorts show up on PPVBAT_AON_CHGR_REG and PPBUS_AON_PORT5V_VIN_ISNS and a few other areas,

I've replaced a few component attached to IPD_MCU_INT_CONN to rule those components out and still same thing, im kind of stuck at this point.

    To confirm...you're using a proper 2022 M2 A2338 trackpad/cable and NOT a 2020 A2338 M1 trackpad/cable, correct? Check part numbers to confirm. Big issue with parts vendors.

Good point. Some trackpad cables (like the one on the old A1534) were asymmetric, and had broad copper connections for the main power rail and ground. I once had a similar thing on that model because customer had torn the cable, ordered another but had put the cable in upside down, shorting all the data lines etc together on the other side!

On this one, you have 5 pins on one side for PPBUS_AON so that's the only thing that makes sense to me.

This is what i originally though as well, I will double check this today. I also asked the client to bring me a new trackpad for this model specifically. They brought it to me like this an di do not have a spare to test with so they are bringing me one today.

The ppbus AON lines are the ones shorting all kinds of stuff on this unit so what you are saying totally makes sense.

UPDATE: part number is 821-02853 which is for a late 2020 year model. thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Glad you got it sorted! Very common issue a few years back as many parts vendors did not specify or differentiate 2020/M1 vs 2022/M2. Lot of headaches for retail guys.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

            by Rezendes
Hello, I am looking for any and all files related to the mainboard for 820-2565-A (13" Macbook Pro A1278 mid 2012) schematics/board view.

I looked through forum search results and google and was unable to find a board view file, I found a pdf of all the schematics but I don't know where the parts physically are on the board as this is my first macbook board level repair attempt.

The macbook charger has a green light, the battery has been replaced and OS reports Normal status but Not charging. After cleaning a corroded capacitor it crumbled off the board. There...

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

[Macbook pro A1708] [Boot loop] [Trackpad ?]
            by No Lan
            Hey everyone,

Usually, I'm not the type to ask for help, but this time, I'm calling on your wisdom and expertise I've seen what this community can do, so I'm pretty sure you guys can help me out.

Here's the deal: I noticed my MacBook got stuck in a boot loop. After opening it up and doing some initial troubleshooting, I found that the boot loop stops only when the trackpad is unplugged.

Now, just so you know, the trackpad actually works — I tested it with another motherboard and it's all good. Same for the cable, no issues there. The problem is only...
