    Macbook Air A2337 820-02016 USB 5V switching on/off ?

    Hi,

Have a macbook air a2337 820-02016, customer states was working on it and suddenly shut off. No liquid damage and the logic board is clean. started poking around the cd3217b12 controllers and found multiple shorts listed. Measured in diode mode.
    • CF408 PP3V3_UPC0_LDO = 030.5ohm
    • CF405 PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE = 048.8ohm
    • CF508 PP3V3_UPC1_LDO = 032.6ohm
    • CF131 PP3V3_ATCRTMR1_VCCA = 017.4ohm
    • CF230 PP1V25_S2 = 037.6ohm
    • CF142 PP3V3_S2SW_USBC1 = 016.9ohm also 0V measurement.
however removed caps one by one to see if shorts will disappear however but still present don't know if it is the usb-c controllers or the u8100? any help would be great!

    17 Ohm means just 200mA at 3.3V. I think this is not a dead-short.
    Which voltages are okay?

Measure the above in resistance mode, not diode mode. Then the measurements will be in ohms.

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
        by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
        by rounin
        Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

        🛠 Original Issue
        The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) - 5V, won't turn on - please help me understand why
        by mkdj
        Hello everyone,

About me, my goal and the equipment I (don't) have:
I am brand new to this forum, and I am eager to learn about repairing laptops. I have an engineer background although I haven't done electronics for a while. I have watched several Youtube videos in the last two months, trying to understand how to diagnose a faulty motherboard. I have a USB-C Amp meter and a classic multi meter. No DC Power Supply to inject voltage, no soldering iron to replace components.

About my issue and my goal:
A friend of mine has a MacBook Air M1 A2337 that does not...

Apple Macbook Air M1 A2337 Trackpad problem
        by Skrndelj
        Hello all,

        I am repairing a Macbook A2337 and i have a problem
The Macbook is stuck in restore as someone before me tried a DFU restore and bricked the device, now i can't do a restore as AC2 throws error 1 which is related to the trackpad.
When i turn on the device i get the trackpad click for a few moments and then nothing, i tried 7 trackpads and 7 trackpad flats, i know all 7 are functioning okay, especially one as i use it for testing and DFU restore.
I inspected the whole board and everything seems fine.
Can anyone help me as i didn't fiddle with trackpad...

Macbook Air A2337 dead at 5V/0,00A
        by Patrick501
        Hey,
I'm working on a MacBook Air M1. I'm pretty sure the U8100 is not working correctly. But I never had to change it before, so I wanna ask anyone of you guys to confirm (or not confirm) my thoughts on it.

        USB Tester: 5V / 0,00A
        PPBUS_AON: 12,3 V
        PP5v_S2: 0 V no short
        PP3v3_S2_UPC: 0 V no short
        PP1v25_S2: 0 V no short
        PPDCIN_AON_CHGR_R: 5 V
no enable signals for the S2 rails by the U8100

        both CR3217 (UF400, UF500), are supplied by 5V (Fuses FF200 and FF201)
        PP3v3_UPC0_LDO: 0 V, 0,5V diode mode to gnd
        PP1v5_UPC0_LDO_CORE:...
