    Acer VX5-591G-78Bf - LA-E361p - does not charge - battery 255%

    greetings to everyone.

I have this note on the bench. I've already tested a new battery and updated the bios.

    I'm using the original source.

The PQ302 receives 19v but does not release voltage. I changed it and the PQ305, but to no avail. Anything else I can check before considering changing the PU301? As I don't have it here and I need to order it, I wanted to eliminate other possibilities.

What is the voltage on the battery? Test with no power adapter connected.

Is the battery detected in the Windows OS?

PQ302 will be enabled to pass the power from the battery to power the logic board. So the battery voltage that is on source (1-2-3) will appear on drain pins (5-6-7-8).

Suggest to review the voltage on pin 28 (Vcc) on the charger IC with only the power adapter. Then repeat with only the battery. Then finally with both connected. Pin 28 should offer the higher of the 2 input voltages being fed into the dual diode @ PD301. As a FYI, PD301 is a common point of failure.

Good afternoon, and thanks for your help.

The EC_SMB_DA1 and EC_SMB_CK1 have 3.1v (measured at the PU301 output).

      I noticed that BI_GATe on pin 2 of PQ201 is 0v, but I have 2.62v on pin 5 of Q2.

      the battery has 0v.

Pin 28 of the PU301 has 19v with the source connected, 19v with source and battery, and 0v only with the battery.

It appears as 255%, but the notebook turns off as soon as I remove the charger. I tested with two batteries.

Remove all power / remove the battery. Meter in lowest resistance mode.

Measure the resistance directly at the battery connector on the logic board to PU301 for EC_SMB_CK1. What is the resistance in ohms?

Repeat for EC_SMB_DA1. What is the resistance in ohms?

              EC_SMB_DA1 is 10.9kohms
EC_SMB_CK1 has no resistance, but the resistance measured on both sides of the PR205 is 100ohms.

Are you sure of these measurements? Both are of concern. Each series resistor must be ~100 ohms (not 10k ohms).

Each path measurement must be 100 ohms each. Be sure that you are measuring at the charger IC on pin # 11 and # 12 (as per the labels). If not, this is the root cause of your issues

I now saw that the 3.3v voltage comes from the RB13, but does not reach the PR315.

I tested the continuity, and the PR315 has continuity with the EC_SMB_CK1 measuring point, which is between QH1 and QH2.

Where is QH1 and QH2? Can you post a pic?

Locate PR315 - there should be a solder blob or a direct PCB trace here.

                    Same for PR317.

Use the meter in resistance mode and measure the resistance across each of the above parts and you should have ~0 ohms across the pcb pads. If not, the trace is broken.

Again, from the actual battery connector (remove the battery) to the charger IC should be ~100 ohms for each of the SMBUS pins - SDA and SCL. If not, this will stop the charger IC from properly communicating with the battery pack.

I apologize for the delay in responding. I forgot that I had posted the question here. The equipment has been returned.

                      Thank you all.

Fail: Does not charge battery, has low voltaje on connector.

Laptop didn't want to turn on, only charge led blinked.

I found PQB5 (mosfet high battery charger) in short, voltaje in +12.6V_BATT was 19 v ...

I changed it, changed PQB6 too and now battery charger voltage is 4.4V but battery is 3 cell, 11.25v, then is very low to charging.

Laptop turns on without battery and works fine, but with battery turns on and turns off inmediately, I suspect battery bad but I don't know...

Vostro 3400 (LA-K033P) won't charge battery, everything else ok
                        by techfreak9356
I bought a Vostro 3400 motherboard (LA-K033P) to upgrade over my damaged Inspiron 5593 (LA-J091P) board. Everything else is ok except for the battery. This battery I am using now is already a replacement one since I disposed of the bloated original one. Back in the Inspiron 5593 motherboard, the battery charges fine and is identified just fine. However, with the upgraded motherboard, suddenly the replacement battery is labeled as "Not a dell battery". When I borrow a similar battery from my colleague (which did not have replacements yet), it is identified and charges just fine.

How can I charge that battery pack?
                        by razenxd
                        Hello,
it's not a laptop/desktop related question but I figured that someone here will have the right knowledge.
At work we use a few Aldebaran(now Softbank/United Robotics group) Nao Robots which they use some custom 6S li-on battery packs.
Nao robots tends to draw from the battery even if they are shut down, and the BMS tends to be a little aggresive, if the pack stays on a turned off robot for 3 months it's gonna lock and will refuse to charge.

Now, I have noticed a few things.
The "dead" battery, while connected to charger and NOT Charging will...

Charge a L19D3PDA battery externally from the laptop
                        by Klevjetack
Is there a way to externally charge a L19D3PDA battery from the laptop. I have a broken charging port on my laptop and am trying to find a way to charge the battery for it. I have been doing some research and I have found that there is a module, TP4056, that can be used to charge Li-ion batteries. It says it is used to charge single cell Li-ion batteries. The L19D3PDA battery is a three cell battery. Is it possible to use the module to charge my battery and it would just be very slow? Or would that be a bad idea. Is there a different kind of module I can use to charge my Li-ion three cell battery?...

i have try replace 2pcs new battery but also same result...on status it saying "charging" but percentage not increase...this laptop also running okay with only battery (got 27% left)....
