HP 840 G5 board number 6050A2945601 says "charging" in windows without battery connected. The motherboard looks clean visually, no signs of liquid damage no burnt or missing parts. I have not come across such an issue and I am requesting assistance on where to start troubleshooting.

On the battery connector is a pin that alerts the battery charger that the battery is attached or is not. Usually is an active low signal so if this pin is ‘0' state or 0 volts, battery IS attached. Vice-versa is battery is absent.
Confirm the voltage to ground of the pin on the battery connector. Maybe this pin is missing the pull-up resistor to park this signal line to ‘1' state when the battery is absent.

There is 12v on positive and 3.3v on the 2 smbus lines.Last edited by Zibbo; 11-03-2024, 07:06 AM.

Battery is internal, it is not supposed to be removed, so that's a non-issue to me.OpenBoardView — https://github.com/OpenBoardView/OpenBoardView
