HP 840 G5 board number 6050A2945601 says "charging" in windows without battery connected. The motherboard looks clean visually, no signs of liquid damage no burnt or missing parts. I have not come across such an issue and I am requesting assistance on where to start troubleshooting.
HP 840 G5 shows orange charging LED and shows charging icon in windows without battery connected.

On the battery connector is a pin that alerts the battery charger that the battery is attached or is not. Usually is an active low signal so if this pin is ‘0’ state or 0 volts, battery IS attached. Vice-versa is battery is absent.
Confirm the voltage to ground of the pin on the battery connector. Maybe this pin is missing the pull-up resistor to park this signal line to ‘1’ state when the battery is absent. -

There is 12v on positive and 3.3v on the 2 smbus lines.Last edited by Zibbo; 11-03-2024, 07:06 AM.Comment

Battery is internal, it is not supposed to be removed, so that's a non-issue to me.OpenBoardView — https://github.com/OpenBoardView/OpenBoardViewComment

by ScoffLooking for some help with this one if anybody can assist please? I have an HP Probook 470 G4 Laptop which recently started to intermittently failing to turn on, with intermittent white LED light(charging LED) by the charging port when it should have been charging and showing an orange LED instead. Definitely some sort of gradual failure. Now the laptop fails to power on at all, no charging LED, no Power Button LED either - seemingly dead.
Stripped down to the bare motherboard. The original HP battery, when disconnected from the motherboard, is reading 0.00v - possibly some sort of protection... -
Hello Everyone!
I have an Acer Aspire A315-42 laptop. I generally leave it on for long time by closing down its lid (so it enters the sleep mode). Recently, it rained quite heavily in out area. And the humidity and moisture seem to be high. So one late evening, after I opened the lid and turned on the laptop, it did power on as the blue light turned on but after it booted to the desktop screen, just 5-10 seconds after both the screen and blue light went out and laptop shut down (the blue power light turned orange). And after 2-4 seconds that orange light went off and the laptop died....06-28-2025, 02:57 PM -

by B2L_RepairsI got a lenovo g50-80 that shows charging led (orange LED flashing) and when I press the power button the white LED comes on but the laptop doesn't switch on. The fan spins for 2 seconds when I press the power button then it stops. This problem started when my charging dock broke the connecting wires and i soldered these wires back but I might have mixed them. I ended up buying a new charging dock but laptop never switched on it just shows flashing orange LED when charger is connected. Could the super io be bad? I don't know how to go about diagnosing and I can't check any board view since this...
