by thedirekterHey all,
Been lurking for a while to find a solution to my dead A1990 (board # 820-01326-05, I can't find a bv for that one so I've been using 820-01041 for reference) but have come up empty handed. I haven't really done any diagnostics on electronics like this though so I'm sure I've probably missed something. I've soldered and diagnosed keyboards and cars but this is definitely new to me.
My overview thus far:
After browsing the web one night, I closed the lid while it was on the charger, left it on my desk overnight and it was dead in the morning. No response... -
Hello everyone,
I'm currently diagnosing a MacBook Pro A1707 motherboard that does not power on. I've gathered some data but am stuck and need expert advice.
Note that i'm a beginner in electronics and i'm trying to learn while trying to repair this macbook that my work gave me. I'm really curious and love understanding how thing works and i already learned so much.
Only one usb c port is taking 20v and have 12.5v on PPBUS_G3H. when trying other ports, 2 are not going to 20v and one is going to 20v but the CD3215 is getting really hot.
Observations... -
by robkaHi,
my MacBook Pro 15" 2018 Touch Bar (A1990) doesn't charge anymore. Board# 820-01041-A
I'm not experienced in diagnostics, but I want to try to solve the problem with your help, because every local shop charges around 600€ (650 usd). Which is the value of the whole Macbook.
The Macbook was charging when suddenly the "charging sound" appeared every other second for around 4-5 times.
After that the Macbook was dead. It isn't charging anymore.
The USB-C Port where the charger was plugged is burned. Also The Cable and the... -
by JoeDeeSHi! Thanks in advance for taking your time reading this / helping me out
.
I have this MB Pro which had a defective CD3215C00Z. After replacing that one, I figured out that I needed to replace the other one as well since I only had CD3215C00 chips (without the Z at the end).
Now the funny thing is where I replaced both the CD3215 chips, it takes 5V ~.32A and the other side that I didn't touch now takes 20V ~.45A (then drops down to .03A).
Do I need to replace the 2 CD3215 chips that I didn't touch as well? Feels so counterintuitive so I'm having... -
by pcash0007First time looking at a logic board this closely, learnt enough from videos and forums here to be dangerous
I was doing a OS update when the screen went blank at some point. Does not seem to be in DFU mode (checked using apple configurator).
PPDCIN_G3H is 5.16V
PPBUS_G3H is 0.045V
Resistance between TP_PPBUS_G3H and ground is 23.8 Ohms (which seems low)
F7000 and F7001 seems fine.
From what I learnt seems like there might be short on the down side on PPBUS_G3H.
Is injecting low voltage and see what... - Loading...
