Hey guys, I recently received a macbook that will not turn on, turns out the tantalum capacitor near isl6263 had spontaneously combusted, anyone have any idea how to fix this one? Seems like it does some kind of filtering for the isl chip, the board also emits a barely noticeable high pitched whine near the single SMT poly cap. Can anyone identify the rating of that capacitor? From what I read of some half complete specs it looks like a 0.033uF tantalum.

by Ryan.manHello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!
My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.
This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen... -
by mkdjHello everyone,
About me, my goal and the equipment I (don't) have:
I am brand new to this forum, and I am eager to learn about repairing laptops. I have an engineer background although I haven't done electronics for a while. I have watched several Youtube videos in the last two months, trying to understand how to diagnose a faulty motherboard. I have a USB-C Amp meter and a classic multi meter. No DC Power Supply to inject voltage, no soldering iron to replace components.
About my issue and my goal:
A friend of mine has a MacBook Air M1 A2337 that does not... -

by mferna14Dear buddies., working on a MacBook Air A1466 (Logic Board 820-00165-A 2017). The logic board turns on fine (This is all done without battery) & the Magsafe jack is lit to orange. I boot it up to OS. Once I shut it down, it does not turn on again unless I remove the magsafe 2 jack & put it back again. There is no liquid spill & the voltages seem to be fine. I re-build a new BIOS & CleanME region done, but the problem still exsist. Once shut down, does not turn on from the keyb power ON/OFF button. I put in a new keyboard & the MagSafe/Audio board & a new flex cable too,...

by envymHi everyone!
I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.
I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...06-27-2025, 08:54 AM - Loading...
