MacBook Air A1466 820-00165 Charging Issue

    Hello everyone,

I have a problem identifying a problem on this MacBook Air A1466 with board 820-00165.
A customer came in with a problem, the laptop was not charging. Otherwise, it works fine - runs from a battery without an issue. The battery is original, the customer also provided his original charger.

However, when I was diagnosing the issue, I turned the laptop off, checked the board, etc. When I put everything back together, the laptop was charging (I inserted the charger and then turned the laptop on). After unplugging the charger and plugging it back, it doesn't charge anymore. Not even from the power supply.

So, the laptop does charge if the charger is put in before the laptop is powered on, charging works perfectly. However, if I unplug it and plug it back, it doesn't charge.

I'm stuck with ideas what to check now,can anyone give me a hint on what to check?

    Thanks a lot!

How many charge cycles on the battery?

What is the led color on the MagSafe adapter cable head when mating with the logic board?

Locate the 3v42 regulator in the schematics. The Vin to this regulator is fed through a common cathode dual diode. Carefully measure the voltage to ground of the cathode (Vin) going into this 3v42 regulator.

If ok, this voltage should be the higher of the 2 voltage inputs. Post the measurement without the adapter then mate the power adapter and measure again.

Hello, thank you for your fast reply. When measuring the diode, I found that the 4.7 ohm resistor value is not 4.7. Replaced it, now it seems to be working as it should.

        Thanks a lot!
