    MacBook Pro A1707 Graphics issue.

Hi, I'm having a problem with my MacBook Pro A1707.
There are graphics glitches all over the screen.
I took a screenshot, so it's not a screen issue, but either the graphics card or VRAM chips.
Has anyone had this issue before? I don't want to replace unnecessary components.
The system is otherwise quite stable, it's just a visual problem.
    Thanks.

I downloaded the gfxCardStatus app, and it seems that the issue only occurs with the integrated graphics. There are no artefacts when using discrete graphics.

        Memtest didn't show any errors.

I can only conclude that the GPU contains onboard local and faster RAM and that MEMTEST is not testing this GRAM.

On this note, if you are fine to disable the GPU then that is one option. I recall a similar case years ago when VOIP phones were just starting to become popular. Was in Taiwan (Taitronics) and a local mfr pitched these low cost VOIP handsets for ~$60 USD each. Purchased 3 sets to share with our brother in California and proceeded to also test locally. Found that they were quite flaky on the operation but realized that each phone call went through a switch in Taiwan for dialing between handsets. The quality of the phone working or not became more erratic over time. At that time, proceeded to open up the enclosures to apply mild heat onto the SRAM chips we found inside along with a 8051 microcontroller. Everytime we applied this mild heat on the memory devices, the VOIP operation was stable and each handset booted fine. As it cooled down, same set went crazy on the B&W lcd and the boot process. Then we ordered a faster grade of this SRAM we were heating from DK and each handset became solid as a rock on its operation. This excitement lasted for a few limited months as the company folded and killed the service. Take away here but at your risk (my disclaimer), consider to apply a bit of heat onto the GPU to see if the artifacts disappear. Not a solution but was our observation.

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
            by rounin
            Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

            🛠 Original Issue
            The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

            Macbook a1707 2017 model 820-00928 GPU issue

            Hello there

I have problem with Macbook Pro 15" 2017, model 2017, MB code 820-00928.

I bought it as broken with some artefacts on the screen, first I thought that this is problem with ribbon cable but after inspectiing ribbon cable I know it is fine. I tried to reinstall macOs and then I figured out that this must be something with GPU as installation freezes at the end (when drivers are loaded). I installed Windows and was able to install every each of drivers except GPU driver, as soon as I tried to install GPU driver - black screen and restart.

            by leonemax81
Hi guys I have a Macbook a1707 with motherboard 820-00281, without liquid damage that behaves strangely, with the battery connected the Macbook does not turn on and the USBC meter stops at 5v in loop, when I disconnect the battery the Macbook turns on and works fine, I have already tried to replace the battery twice without success, as soon as I connect the black cable of the battery the Macbook does not turn on, it stops at 5v and in loop.

            MacBook A1278 (3115) No PPBUS_G3H Issue

Subject: Help Needed: MacBook A1278 (3115) No PPBUS_G3H Issue

            Hello everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook A1278 with the 3115 logic board and facing an issue with no PPBUS_G3H voltage. Here's what I've checked so far:
            1. U7000 Measurements:
              • Pin 3 has 0V, even though R7012 shows 16.5V from PPDCIN_S5_CHGR.
            2. Resistors:
              • I measured R7010 and R7011 with one leg disconnected, and both tested OK.

Based on these findings, I believe U7000 needs to be replaced. However, I have a related question:
            • If I also decide to replace the SMC, do I need to order it pre-programmed,
