Excellent. You should be ok with powering up without having this one capacitor. The logic boards are often fitted with a group of bulk caps to assist each other. Respectively, the board will not halt the operation if one cap is missing. As long as there are no other shorted caps, you should be fine to test the board.

It's alive! Thank you so much for all your help.

Apple wanted $400+ to replace the logic board, ebay had it for $200+ but at the end it ended up being a $5 fix for capacitor + shipping. All thanks to this forum and the wonderful contributors. šŸ™

        2018 Macbook Pro A1990 2Tb, SSD1 dead
        by mattknudstrup@gmail.com
        Hello All,

My 2018 Macbook Pro (2TB) crapped out recently, won't turn on. Diagnosed so far as shorted second terabyte SSD1. Question for the forum. I'm thinking about removing or disabling SSD1 and just using SSD0 which will still give me 1Tb usable. I'm assuming all the boot up stuff is all in SSD0. Am I correct about this? If so is there a way to disable SSD1 without removing all the associated components? Will just powering it down do the trick?

I currently have U9580 (TPS62180) removed as it was fried but that is as far as I have gone with it. In other words I...

Macbook a2251 Water damage- stuck on Logo
        by Runnerboys
        Hi all,

Would appreciate your input, we have fixed a water damage motherboard for the a2251, there was mainly corrosion next to the 2 locations, but were able to clean it all

First few times- the Macbook would boot and got to login screen (didn't try to login), day after, when we tested it - it would get stuck on the logo and won't show welcome screen

What would be the best step to take from here to test? should I test Mobo components/ chip / storage? and if so- where do I start?

OR should I try to use the Apple Configurator and connect...

        Macbook pro 13'' A2338 late 2020 stuck at 5V
        by mariusm28
        Hi,

        I bought a waterdamaged macbook pro A2338 , late 2020 EMC 3578, its stuck at 5V 0,06mA.
The 3V8 (U5700) chip is shorted out, atleast the PPBUS_VMAIN_VIN_ISNS Cap is and a bunch of resistors. It also seems that a resistor is missing. Does anyone have a boardview to tell me wich resistor goes where arround the U5700?

And for the macbook to boot it requiers 20V am I right? Wich chip tells the charger that it is a Macbook and not a phone?

        Thank you so much!...

Macbook Pro 16 A2141 stuck in network boot
        by sdogs
Good evening guys ;-) In a moment of lucid madness I bought a macbook pro 16 A2141 on which they sat on it. Aside from the banana shape and obviously gone screen, the macbook turns on, sounds the initial gong.
I disassembled the screen and connected it to an external display, using a usb-c adapter, but I can't reinstall the os.
I tried SMC and PRAM reset but the result doesn't change, the recovery starts only from the network, I tried different USB pendrives with different operating systems but nothing, it sees the boot device for an instant and immediately goes looking for the network....
