    MacBook Pro A1708 VERY slow

    Hello

I'm 40, french IT guy, my wife have a MacBook Pro F-keys i5 13-inch Mid-2017 wich is VERY slow, fan don't turn at full speed, airport and motherboard sensors indicate 128 degrees
I tried to unplug the screen, the webcam, reset SMC... without effect

I've watch many videos about sensors issues, but all of the videos talk about fan turning at full speed which is not my case
do you have any idea ? what is wrong?

    Motherboard number: 820-00840

    regards

Hello. Unit is running very slow because the logic board is being throttled on the CPU speed due to the (false?) readings of your sensors. The sensors appear to be 'stuck' as they operate using the 2-wire I2C / SMBUS interface which consists of the SCL & SDA lines. Review the schematic and locate the thermal sensors onboard. They operate in a group or cluster using the same 2 lines. Remove all power. Remove the battery. Meter in resistance mode.

Measure the resistance to ground of the SCL line. What is the measurement?

Repeat with the SDA line. What is the measurement?

We are checking if the ESD transient diode is damaged which will cause the entire network of sensors / devices that are called I2C slaves from operating. The logic board 'assumes' the temp is 128 degrees due to the true readings being unavailable -> slow down the CPU. This is first theory.

Try to disconnect the trackpad cable to see if the results are any different. The trackpad cable may be integrated with the keyboard cable but not 100% sure at this time so review the youtube videos. That is, sometimes the removal of the keyboard cable will also remove the trackpad interaction. Either way, proceed with extreme care as the connectors and parts are quite fragile. If in doubt, stop and ask with questions posted on this forum. Can review the actual schematic once at the office but the above is a general guidelines to get you started.

MacBook Pro A1708 820-00840 stuck @ 5V, no power, no charging
      by EpicFix
Hey guys, I need a little help here. I have a MacBook Pro A1708 820-00840 stuck @ 5V. Started off affecting just one port but now it's affecting both. Both CD3215 ics were replaced but the issue remains. One port does a loop and the other stays at a constant 5V. Both CD3215 have 3V incoming. I checked for PP3V3_G3H @ R3000, C3100 and C3108, R3001, C3200 and C3208. The weird thing is though that the ammeter shows the current draw (5V @ 0.5A) coming out from the port as opposed to it going in. Any ideas on helping me fix this?

MacBook Pro 2018 with Activation Lock
      by envym
      Hi everyone!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...

Macbook Air 2015 Booting Very Slow and Stuck on apple Logo 99%

Hi guys i have my personal MacBook Pro 2015 820-00165 board that was working fine for more than a year and one day stopped working on my original Magsafe charger. It was turning on with my bench power supply. Opened it up and while diagnosing that somehow i ended up with a shorted smc.The line which was shorted was SMC_PM_G2_EN. I removed the SMC and short was gone. So all I had was another working donor board 820-3435 which i used to program it's SMC to 820-00165 using the SMCTOOL By MuertoGB.Took that SMC and use it on my 820-00165 board .And my board started working again. PPBUS_G3H 8.56V....

      by AlexVG
      Hi everybody

      I have Macbook A1708 820-00840
It goes through all steps to start
exclude last steps power PPVCCCPU_S0G and PPVCCGT_S0G

      Besides, no exchange on
      CPU_VIDSCLK
      CPU_VIDSOUT

      However CPU_PWRGD is OK
      CPU_PROCHOT is down.

I replaced SPI dump from here:
      https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...n-me-pram-bios
      Unfortunately did't help me.

      Would...
