Sony Vaio PCG-71313M: Power Light But Dead

Here working on a Sony Vaio with board number: 1p-0106200-6011

The power light lights up but....thats it really. CPU/GPU Chip does not get hot at all. Not sure if bios, cpu/gpu chip (all-in-one-chip) or something else.

Any pointers to know where to look first?

Re: Sony Vaio PCG-71313M: Power Light But Dead

I just have open an Sony Vaio PCG-7144M of my friend, but all I can identify is one 100uF SMD cap (100; EFK.; 8R6) and then only like 5ks of SMD bigger tantal caps and one smaller tantal.
Nothing around CPU, nothing unusually bulging or leaking, yet the machine needs to hit keyboard one ot two times before Vista boot and Prime95 give a error in seconds, so...

I would shout "BAD CAPS!" - but I yet to find one... Diassembly yours and check out for yourself. It is easy to get rid of the back cover:

However not much is on the PCB:

....maybe it is something on the backside? Dunno...

      i got 3 of them(nearly same model)
2 of them blink for 2 sec the turn off then one it work but something bad happen ... the easy way to tell is i saw smoke still working on it
i`m guessing replacing the chip was the only solution until today.
i lady come in to tell me if can repair a mouse pad for the same model(nearly)
YES! of course(i got spare parts 3 of them) she give me the notebook running only with broken mouse pad, but after i replace the mouse pad the f.....ing bastard could not POWER or blink ... anything 0 caput NADA; no sign of life in the power button was only 2.6v.
24h i was so angry and could not tell or explain that lady what happen. so befor i pick up the phone and try to tell here and you know give here another one i putt a screw driver in the bios battery socket and pull out the battery and let it stay there for a few minutes.
yee guess what it power up everything was back to normal but did not understand what TF just happen. today i ordered a bios programmer.

SO CONCLUSION ... CHECK, Bios, reflow, spare or trash can
Just cook it! It's already broken.

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
        by PantherDave
        Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

Sony 55X900E no standby light, no power. Replaced mainboard already
        by noinimod
        No standby red light, nothing
This Sony has a separate AC->DC power adapter supplying 19.5V to the TV power board (JK3)

Disconnected JK3 power board from main board, checked voltages on all the pin outs

At a few pins I can see the power supply providing 19.5V to the main board

Based on the service manual triage.. it seems to be pointing towards the power board (JK3) being the most possible culprit

LED light turns on when I disconnect LED driver board ribbon from mainboard (so i thought it is the mainboard,...

Sony Bravia XBR-65x900f: No Power, No Standby-light - however 3.3v STBY is present
        by SkishyIshy
        Hey All,

        I have a Sony 65x900f that I purchased cheap because of a no-power issue.
I assumed that because there is no standby light visible, it would be an easy fix - however upon opening up of the unit I can confirm that the 3v3 standby voltage is making it's way from the power supply to the main board. I'm a little confused as to why there is no standby light.

I am firstly wondering if anyone has this model of TV, or has worked on one and can give me some insight. I have tried to find a service manual for this model, to no avail - and would really appreciate...

troubleshooting microsoft surface pro 4 no power no led charge light
        by ipatch
hello, i have been sitting on some microsoft surface pro 4 tablets for a while now. i was originally tasked with replacing the battery in one of the tablets, and ended breaking the screen and logic board in the process. decided to buy another tablet with the same specs. got that screen off successfully of the second tablet. the logic board appeared good, but i guess i shorted something out in the installation process of the logic which i've read is a common issue if there is no barrier between the logic board and battery pins. all that said, i ate costs of the repair and have...
