    Advent laptop - screen issue?

Somebody on another forum I'm on has this odd issue with unknown model Advent laptop, thought I'd crosspost it here.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9B-RjbNY9s

Apparently it's fine on external monitor. But it has that odd green discolouration and then goes back to normal which makes me wonder if there's a GPU problem there.

Unsure if it's LED or CCFL.

    Any ideas?

Update, it's a CCFL screen, laptop is an Advent 5712, apparently doesn't go back to normal after login. I've told him he's probably best trying to replace the inverter first (I've seen similar before and they cost Β£3 each so it's a good place to start)

That's got nothing to do with the inverter. I'd suspect loose/dirty LVDS cable first, cracked LCD second, bad GPU third. I strongly believe it's the screen tho.

Now don't go and tell me the screen isn't visibly cracked - i've seen my share of bad LCDs with weird behaviors, and looking really really carefully, every time there was a hair-thin crack somewhere on the top side, where the chips-on-glass are.

Agree with Th3 its probably a faulty screen / cable. First thing to do is remove the screen bezel and jiggle the cable, if the screen changes you've found your problem. Then try another screen, I try to have an old ccfl screen handy for testing.

did you try to run it in extern monitor?
if yes and the same we all know what you have to do "REFLOW/REBALL"
Just cook it! It's already broken.

In the first post he mentioned that external is OK.

Acer Helios 500 (PH517-51) - unexpected reboots when laptop is warm (cold solder joint issue?)
              by Mirenia
              Hi everyone,

got an Acer Helios 500 Laptop (PH517-51) for diagnosing with a strange issue:

The laptop runs for a while (1-2 hours, sometimes less) and then suddenly shuts completely off, like someone pulled the power cord and restarts immediately after on its own.
If this happened once, then the laptop only runs for a few minutes until restart.
This happens regardless while staying in windows or uefi or in a linux environment.

At first I thought of a normal overheating issue, but as I monitored temps with HWInfo64, nothing seems very hot.

Asus ROG Strix 17 (G733ZX) Laptop Power Issue
              by klopez0017
I've had the laptop for about 2 years now, and lately, it has been acting weird whenever the AC adapter is plugged in. The issue is that when the AC adapter is connected, the charging often gets disconnected. This frequent connection and disconnection interrupts whatever activity I am doing, as it causes the laptop to underclock. At one point, the laptop even stopped charging with the AC adapter plugged in.

When I try to use the PD in one of the USB-C ports, it charges just fine. The only downside is that I can only get about 100W of power since that's the maximum it can take, so...

Request for Assistance: HP Laptop with LA-G07FP Motherboard Power and Charging Issue
              by wagolla
HP laptop with the LA-G07FP motherboard has encountered persistent issues with powering on and charging. Here are the details:
              1. The laptop does not power on or charge consistently.
              2. When I remove and then reinsert the battery, the laptop will turn on when connected to the power adapter, and the battery charges normally.
              3. However, after approximately 1-2 days, the issue reoccurs, and the laptop will not power on or charge until I repeat the battery removal process.
              4. I have already updated the drivers and BIOS via the HP support website, but the problem persists.

              Could you assist with...
