HP Compaq 2710p: No Power; No Sign of Life

Has anyone ever worked on these laptops before?

Power supply works 100%. Tested various connections on the MM and I get my 19v; ground connection, on MM, and + terminal on dc jack . Any pointers of where else to check?

Do you know if it is able to charge the battery?
Is there 19 volts in the output mosfet of the charging circuit?, also check the 3,3-alw and 5-alw voltages.
Check also if there is voltage in power button terminals.
    Post results.

      Hi.

I cant seem to find a schematic to locate the mosfet. Also what is 3,3-alw and 5-alw voltage?

And yes I get voltage at pwd button switch pins (19v)

I can´t find the schematic either, but all laptops have a regulator circuit that feeds +5VALW and +3VALW like in the follow screen capture.

Do you want to say that you have 19 volts in power button switch?
I think there'll be a mistake, 19 volts is too much.
          And what about charger circuit?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
            by PantherDave
            Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

            Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

            Hello,

First of all im glad i've found this forum and i'm happy to start learning new things and sharing my knowledge with others!

Long story short : I have a laptop from work that has no power and no signs of life. My first question is: A 90W charger(19V 4.5A) is enough for this laptop? Because the original charger was 19V 6,4A(120W), so all the testing was done with the 90W charger because i don't have a 120W charger.

This being said, i opened up the laptop and i've inspected the MB and the components, everything seems fine, no sings of explosion, burn,...
