    Contrary to many opinions that is not a bga rework station, IT IS an smt rework station ie ceramic caps, resistors etc;

This is a BGA rework station http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDTrS7wDyNE

I skimmed through the thread and i understand that the laptop worked but then failed. This mean that the solder balls did not full melt or not at all and the board was simply BAKED this caused the board to flex thus causing a temporary connection.

The solder needs to reach a temp of at least 240c to achieve proper melting and should be held for at least 30 sec, failure to follow these procedures will result in a temporary repair. It may last a few hrs, wks, mths but the problem WILL RETURN.

Most machines do come with k type thermo couples, however it is recommended to not use it and get an omega thermocouple as they provide much better results.

Lets say you are at 240c according to your probe, you may be at 250c which means bye bye chip. You may also think your at 240c and be at 220c, which is enough to start ball melting but not provide full liquification so it will stop working soon.

I don't have access to that level of equipment... hence why I'm selling it... hopefully somebody who does will buy it.

Can we take it that these temperatures are for unleaded solder???
I would be interested in your suggestions on temperatures for leaded replacement
        Thanks

**Need Help Unlocking BIOS and Hard Drive on Dell Precision 5820 Tower**
            by federalhouse
            Hi everyone,

I'm in need of assistance with a Dell Precision 5820 Tower. The BIOS is locked with "Dell Security Manager," preventing access to the HDD-1 hard drive.

            **Background:**

I recently purchased this Dell Precision 5820 Tower from a recycler who salvages equipment from abandoned office spaces. The computer was left behind by its previous owner and was password locked. Given that it can run Windows 11, I saw this as an opportunity to upgrade my setup.

            **What I've Tried So Far:**

            1. I accessed

HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G2 won't detect a drive after reformat.
            by perfm2
So I've worked on dozens of HP and Dell laptops and have never encountered this before.
Steps taken in my usual process.
Reset security settings in the BIOS
Ensure existing HD comes up into the OS
Shut down the laptop and disconnected the main battery
Removed old M2 drive and replaced with a new 1tb Mushkin Temptest NVME drive. (I'm aware the bus is Sata III but the drive should still work at a slower speed right? Been my experience in other laptops)
Replace battery connector and close up the laptop
Insert my USB drive with my Windows 10 image I've...

Pegatron M2N78-LA (rev. 3.02) freezes on POST with SATA drives attached
            by momaka
Like the title says, I have a Pegatron M2N78-LA (HP P/N: 513430-002) motherboard out of an HP Pavilion PC. The motherboard hard-locks during POST when it gets to the part of trying to detect the SATA devices *only* if there is a SATA device (be it HDD or optical drive) connected to any of the SATA ports. I cannot enter BIOS or do anything when this occurs. Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del cannot restart the system either. In fact, the keyboard locks up too (Num Lock status LED cannot be toggled anymore.). However, if I disconnect everything from the motherboard's SATA ports, the motherboard can POST successfully...

Toshiba HDTW230XS3CA 3TB external drive died
            by m710q_flash
I had been using this hard drive for a while, and it worked fine only going back and forth between 3 computers.

Plugged it into an older computer that happened to have a really loose USB port. Light flashed once and died, never to be powered up again. Not sure if it's relevant that the USB port was loose.

Anyway, now it doesn't power up at all, it's been sitting on my desk for years and figured what the heck, nothing to lose as I'm not going to pay someone to fix it, maybe I can learn something from it.

Removed the case, figured I would look for anything...
