Macbook Pro 13" No Power (another one)

I have another one of those 13" Macbook Pros (2010) that have no power.

Pressing the power button does nothing. No fan spin, lights, nothing. I have checked the power button operation (pins 5 and 29 on the keyboard socket) and it drops the 5v on pin 5 to zero when pressed. I guess its working.

The fuse near the power plug is good as well as the other 3? green fuses.
The charger seems to work normally. Green, then orange, then green again, showing a charged battery (I guess). Tried two chargers.

I get an occasional 19v at the battery. It seems that the charging circuit intermittently checks and sends a burst to the fully charged battery.

I tried a reflow of the Nvidia chip and no change.

These boards are selling used for about $300 and it seems to be a widespread problem.
Could it still be the Nvidia chip?

Any other ideas to diagnose this?

Thank you much for your expertise.

Just by chance, I see a tiny resistor (?) is broken off the motherboard.
If I did it, then it's an additional problem.
I don't think I did it, so maybe this is the whole problem. I bought this laptop like this.

It is part of the circuitry for part #51125. There are other resistors also connected to #51125.
It's clear to see in my photos attached.
I'm willing to try soldering a microscopic piece on again, if I can find a replacement. I do have a number of motherboards around that I could get it from.
I would need to know what it is and its value. I assume it's a resistor.

Maybe you can start from here http://www.ti.com/product/tps51125 if you don't have schematic for this model. It's look like resistor 20K Ohm if we read the datasheet. I Hope it help

        Thanks.
        I'll start looking at that.

I'm having a hard time trying to decipher the datasheets.
It looks like my "resistor" is connected to pin#3 (vref) of the chip, but another datasheet rotates the thing 90 degrees and confuses me as to which pin is which.
Usually pin #1 is at the "dot" on the chip. Right???

Anyway, if this is pin #3, then it has a .22uF Cap connected directly to it.
          Pin #2 has a 20k resistor.

Can I verify anything by measuring a voltage there?

          Thanks much.

I measure 2.6v dc on the missing component connected to pin #3.
And 0v on the other side of the missing component space.
            Any help?

pin #16 is VIN , measure if you get adapter voltage, start from there to find pin direction #1 . But if you get 2.6v on pin #3 ( VREF ) maybe you are on the spot , I think . Good luck

The component you are missing is an .22uF Cap

tell me what is the current ?
if its less then 0.001 something is open. it migth be that resistor. You have the schematic so measure the voltage after the power "not the charging part of the circuit just after powering part(acording to charginf led is on)" check +3 +5 +19 etc.. if dont find any of them start measuring from that point to source.

"The component you are missing is an .22uF Cap"
if so, it is not. (i assume there is no current higher then 0.01A)
so check mosfets and ic's you'll find.

May i ask the voltage at top of the right capacitor of 51125 please?
At me it is battery voltage and 5 v is gone if magsafe is disconnected
                    thanks

I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
                      • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
                        • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
                      • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
                        • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
                      by PantherDave
                      Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                      Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74 power issue

                      Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

                      MacBook Pro (A1502 / 820-3476-A) - No orange/green light and no power
                      by techrepairheide
                      Hello again,

got an MacBook Pro from 2015, model A1502 and motherboard version 820-3476-A.

Device died over night on charger.

Currently I did the follow things:

                      1. Checked visuell the board, test with another MagSafe-Charger and with another DC-IN-board too
                      2. Measured 16,5V on PP18V5_DCIN_FUSE but 0V on ADAPTER_SENSE and 0V on PP_3V42_G3H and 0V on PPBUS_G3H but 16,5V goes to U7090
                      3. Because of corrosion and bad resistor values I changed these components: U7090 / C7094 / C7095 / R7095 / R7096 / L7095 / C7099 -> But further...
