You need to download the correct version of it -- OS X Leopard for PPC.

If you have Panther, it most likely comes in PPC distribution. As it is older.

An Intel Distribution of OS X Leopard will most likely eject because the PowerBoook won't know what to do with it.

Apple probably sent you an Intel-based distribution, because I doubt they still stock PPC Distros.
I will contact them and ask.

I dont think we can download an apple os from the uk I looked into it before buddy.

you can go to your local torrent site!

the good news about apple OS is that they don't require keys, registration, or anything.

pretty much nothing illegal about downloading a .dmg image of the file and burning it.

        Re: Powerbook G4 help please

Its annoying since I have just purchased a copy and had to pay apple for a replacement disk.

I need to rip the info from the dvd onto the apples hard drive using my pc then try to get it to install when I boot the powerbook.

            hey op,

i just downloaded an OS X (PowerPC) distro from torrentbay.se

all it cost me was a blank DVD

and it boots up on my PowerBooks just fine.

Think I have found the problem. The drive will not read the Apple dual layer DVD's. They are sending me the OS on CD's.

              We will see.

                Re: Powerbook G4 help please

                Ok all systems go.

Installed Apple 10.5.1 and updated online.

                1.5ghz powerpc g4
                1.25 gb ddr sdram

It runs for a bit and everything works fine but then it becomes very unstable and constantly askes me to reboot. Its so frustrating.

I have reinstalled it about 5 times now to try and fix the issue.

I thought the powerbook was over heating so used an air duster inside the unit and this didnt improve things. Any ideas for fault finding this problem?

                Cheers guys.

                      Re: Powerbook G4 help please

I think you can download most OS systems. I chose to buy a new copy from Apple.

I had a fair amount of issues since my drive was a CD drive and they come on DL DVD nowdays.

I ended up making 2 partitions on the Apple G4.

Made a disk image on one using an external DVD drive of the OS.

You can boot from the external DVD drive but you can boot from hard disk.

It worked out well. If I ever have any problems with the OS now I can reinstall from the 2nd partition.

**Need Help Unlocking BIOS and Hard Drive on Dell Precision 5820 Tower**
                        by federalhouse
                        Hi everyone,

I'm in need of assistance with a Dell Precision 5820 Tower. The BIOS is locked with "Dell Security Manager," preventing access to the HDD-1 hard drive.

                        **Background:**

I recently purchased this Dell Precision 5820 Tower from a recycler who salvages equipment from abandoned office spaces. The computer was left behind by its previous owner and was password locked. Given that it can run Windows 11, I saw this as an opportunity to upgrade my setup.

                        **What I've Tried So Far:**

                        1. I accessed

PC case - Hard drive rails
                        by tmcw
A friend gave me his old PC case (with MB, and PSU), but no hard drive rails, he said he only used the 2.5" SSD spot inside, and used an external hard drive for data. He said that he'd have a look for the supplied rails, but I doubt he'll find them.

So I was wondering if case manufacturers used any type of standard 3.5" hard drive rail?

I'm used to the various Dell hard drive caddies or rails (and HP and Lenovo to a lesser extent), or el cheapo cases where you screw through the frame to fix the drive.

Now, the case is a CiT Gaming Case, and...

Lenovo IdeaPad 3 - Hard Disk not recognized in BIOS
                        by mkdj
                        Dear all,

I have recently fixed a Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15 ALC6 that was not booting due to a BIOS issue. After flashing the BIOS, the laptop boots up, but hard disk is not recognized in BIOS. Is says "Hard Disk : Not Installed". I have tried with 2 different drives (one that I know is working on another laptop) but I get the same result. I do not know if disks were recognized before I got the laptop and fix it, but I don't see any reason why not. I can boot on USB though.

Here the steps I have taken to fix the laptop:
                        - downloaded latest BIOS from Lenovo Website...

Repairing a Seagate hard drive with damaged logic board
                        by karto95
                        Hello everyone,

I'm currently facing an issue with my Seagate hard drive that has a damaged logic board. I've obtained a replacement logic board from a donor hard drive, but unfortunately, I'm unable to recover the BIOS of the original board due to damaged firmware. I'm wondering if it's possible to make the hard drive work with this donor logic board.

I have a CH341A programmer, so I'm hoping that it can be useful in this situation. I've attached the BIOS file .bin of the donor board for reference.

If anyone has any suggestions or experience with this...
