Red Epoxy - The BGA guard

How do you remove it? I talked to a couple of colleagues, and everybody has its own way.

I found my way pretty cheap and effective. I heat the board up so the epoxy is around 75°C and with a special sharp hook shaped tool and a pair of needle sharp tweezers a pick out the epoxy under the BGA, and i manage to remove it completely.

Personally, I use a rework machine that heats it from underneath. At about 80C, I start to remove it with tweezers. By the time I'm done, the board is at about 120C and the stuff comes off like butter. I usually do this while pre-heating the board for chip removal so it's all in one step and I don't have to heat the board twice. Nothing worse than "thinking" you have it all removed, the go to lift the chip only to discover one blob still holding the chip down to the board.

I heard there is some kind of fluid that resolves the epoxy. You leave if soaked for a couple od minutes and it easily comes off.

The epoxy remover doesn't work as well. Don't waste your money.

Use any paint epoxy stripper or remover like bosny company apply some on the red paste make sure u keep away from your skin as this chemical burns a lot so be careful when usin it. Alternate use a wooden tootpick and blower to strip off the red epoxy.

Paint stripper is like a paint resolver/thinner?

                  Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Guide to transplant MEC1503 EC chip and EEPROM reprogamming for T14s gen 2 and X13 gen 2
                  by acedogblast
This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

Hantek 365 Remove screen on startup
                  by Maxpower3
every time I open the tool, I have the screen that appears
and I am always in a hurry to use it so I click and it automatically sends me a link to the manufacturer.

                  It annoys me lol.

                  2 solutions to remove it.

Either you remove pic.bmp and it no longer appears so no more links when clicking.

or else you can modify the exe to remove the .bmp

                  hope this helps users...

[REQUEST] Dell G3 3579 BIOS Password & AMI Protected Range/BIOS Guard Unlock
                  by zenius
Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...
