A decoupling there cap still wouldn't have anything to do with your sound.
It would be to keep EMI picked up by external USB cables out of the power rails inside the machine.
    .
Biggest possible affect of it missing would be a little more static noise in the sound.
That would be because the power to the sound IC chip could get some EMI noise in it.
    .
I suspect your sound ribbon cable got loosened [or something similar] when you dropped it and you inadvertently fixed it when you reconnected everything.
    .
Is still better to have that cap there.
    .

Yea, I suspect you do know what you are talking about. It is very strange though because there is only 1 ribbon cable connecting to that board from the motherboard, i had the board in and out several times when the sound wasn't working and it was always the same thing, there was voltage to the speakers, but no sound, and no 5V to the USB, as soon as i fixed that component in the sound came back and i was getting 5V on that rail (although the pin was broken).. I don't know, it is logical what you are saying, maybe it is just coincidence and I was not connecting something correctly.

Thanks for all your input guys
Nice soldering... I've seen laptop motherboards -from the factory- with those kinds of bodges on them. I'm guessing the tiny pitch of the PCBs and the very small components means the occasional misplaced component or incomplete trace.

Sony PS4 component Missing, near the HDMI Port
          by Ritchie_Uk
          Hi there

A Sony PS4 came in for "No Video" and it seems there is a component Missing, near the HDMI Port.
          The Component circled in Red

          1. Was this just a Component Missing from Manufacture please?
          2. It is a straight forward Port Replacement, or do I need to be aware of anything else?
          3. Any Schematics or Board Views available?

          Any Advice is greatly appreciated.

          Stay Safe !!...

HP Probook 450 g5 Liquid damaged USB-C / Display port switcher
          by maybepanic
          Hey,
          I've got a liquid damaged HP Probook 450 g5.
There was a lot of corrosion around the Paradetech PS8743B B1 chip, plus what looks like heat damage from a short. There are no schematics available for the board, nor could I find any schematics from paradetech for the USB-C / Display port switcher.
Is there anything else I can do to increase my chances of fixing the board apart from checking for shorts around the ic and replacing it?
Attached some pics of my liquid damaged board, closeup of the cleaned ic and a pic of a good board I found online.
          Thanks!...

Asmedia ASW1142 usb 3.1/C not working properly on msi z170a m7
          by Belmoto
          Hi there,

Recently I had a problem with my msi z170a m7 mobo usb c/3.1 port,

The port connects normally but when I transfer data it transfers with full speed (from the pc to the device I'm sending to) but it does not receive with the same speed, to make it simpler, if I plugged a wifi adapter to it, I can upload with full speed but I can't download with the same speed, but if I connected the adapter to different port it downloads at full speed.

I'm not sure if it's a HW problem or a SW one,

I have MSI z170a m7, with modded bios to install coffee...

          820-02020 PPBUS_AON missing
          by ugamazing
Board had no history of liquid; unsure of drop history, but no signs of damage of any kind worth noting.

Charger sitting at 5v/0a. PPBUS is at 1.9v-0.9v steady cycle (peaks, drains, loops). Confirmed CHGR_EN_MVR is missing, but DCIN was reaching ISL just fine, so replaced ISL--no change at all. Confirmed pp3v8_aon is also missing--and being unsure *exactly* which signal appears first (or if they are simultaneous), I inspected PMU/U8100 area and found no shorts, but also found PP3V8_AON_MPMU_ISNS_VIN missing (not shorted). Replaced U8100 just in case (have had them fail in weird ways),...

Power supply Manson NTP-5561 (5661) LCD controller dead - PIC18F87K90 HEX dump required
          by Andreas_de
          Hello!

i got a damaged Manson NTP-5561 (60V, 1,6A DC output) and and the main issue is that the controler IC for the LCD display has a short. The controler IC PIC18F87K90 is mounted on the back of the back of the LCD. Vss-Vdd = 3 Ohm. The 5V and 3,3V power line was killed as well, but that is not a problem. A new LDO 3,3V and 5V 7805 is already ordered.
Replacing the PIC18F87K90 is necessary but that makes no sense without having the HEX dump of the new controler.

Does anybody have such a power supply and could do a HEX dump of the Flash and EEPROM memory?
