    A2197 / Ipad 7th Gen / 2019 - No Power / Low Current Draw

    Hello,

Ive been working on this ipad for a little while now. CPU reballing is a common issue needed on this model.

I wanted to try and verify there is not a PMIC Problem before reballing the CPU.

Powering 4.2V at the battery gives a 0-1ma Draw
Pressing the power button it jumps to 18+ma and settle at 15ma

Ive attached my Readings for many of the power rails.
THis is how the columns are layed out:
Ohms/ Diode / Voltage After power button Press / Injecting Voltage Reading

In the second attachment there are some odd reading on vss Sense lines. They only come out the bottom of the CPU to a test point under the board. They read short on ohm meter, dioded and voltage injection..

What ive Figured out now it that if i warm up the CPU/CPU Area, the current draw goes from 15ma up to 50ma and if i freeze the area i get like 11ma

This makes me think more to do a CPU Reball, but i am still new with Ipads

Can anyone chime in on this?

    Thanks
    Kevin

I just found out there is a program called "Wuxijin" Seems way more resourcefull than ZXW and seems to way more diode readings. I might buy it today and see if there is more info on this tablet.
"WUXINJI VS ZXW Schematics Full Review 15 big difference"
      https://youtu.be/vnA2LlEtjNo?si=Ws8nkTtx6RHsfQGH

All of my Diode Reading in ZXW check out. Except ZXW is missing a few things like the charge port flex.

Ive attached the Diode Readings from ZXW. The only diode readings i get wrong are the two that have readings over 1V. I think i am doing something wrong here or my meter is weird, I know sometimes you need to swap the polarity of the probes for certain readings.

Perhaps Repair.wiki or Logi.wiki might have more info on this

If i cant figure out more, i will probably change the PMIC before the CPU just incase...

I've purchased Wuxijin now. here are the diode readings for the Charge port flex

Awww, I realized the ZXW board is different then the one in the component placement pdf for the ipad 7

          PDF's HEre post #4
          https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...ighlight=a2197

So i redid all my readings from the first post.. Now I only get 1.8always and main, no other voltages... No luck yet...

I tried searching the forum for whether this has been uploaded already, but couldn't find them (as a collection).
Here's a dump of a bunch of iPads, I've split into 2 archives to get under file limit

            MacBook Air A2337 - 820-02016 - Stuck at 5v - Varying current draw - Board had short
            by duwane
            Hi All.

I have an 820-02016 board (A2337 M1) that has come in for data recovery. Reported as liquid damage, but no visible evidence of any liquid damage.

Board was initially stuck at 5v, and current only spiking occasionally to around 400mA and cycling.

After initial troubleshooting, found that C7800 (which feeds the power rail PP5V_BSTLQ_VOUT_SPMU) was dead short to ground.

Replaced C7800 and short gone. Board still stuck at 5v. Current draw behaviour changed. It now spikes up for a second to around 100mA to 130mA, then drops down to...

            IPAD 6 (2018) A1893 No power
            by SolderNewbie
            Hi all,
I'm trying to fix an IPAD 6, 2018, A1893 WIFI.
It does not turn on and does not enter recovery or dfu mode.

            History
The device was working before, but did intermittently reset.
            I gathered two panic logs:
"panicString" : "Attempting to forcibly halt cpu 0\ncpu 0 failed to halt with error -5: halt not supported for this configuration
"panicString" : "panic(cpu 0 caller 0xfffffff020e14724): nvme: "AppleEmbeddedNVMeController. Controller fatal bit set. Write.

            NEEDED IPAD7 A2197 DIODE MESURAMENTS VCC_MAIN, VCC_BATT, VDD_BOOST
            by jolivares
I sent IPAD 7 WIFI-2019, model A2197 to a techincal service, but they did not repair it, so i am trying to fix it. The problem is the IPAD is not booting and no turn on.
This is what i found until this moment:
            1) with battery connected, the current draw from the power supply is about 450mA from the charging port.
            2) no short circuit in lines VCC_MAIN, VCC_BATT.
            3) with the power supply, or with the battery, the 3.7V of VCC_MAIN and 1V8_ALWAYS are generated without problem.
            4) the current draw from the power supply, without battery, is about 26mA from the charging...

Is there any high current pouch battery that are size 60mmX80mm maximum thickness 21mm for a battery operated tab welder
            by sam_sam_sam
I have a battery operated tab welder and the battery does not have enough current for the battery tab welder because after about 30 welded it does not have the same current output it voltage has gone down by at least 0.500 volts or maybe a more than that

I can fit 21700 battery cells in the enclosure it is very tight fit for four of them that are 35 amp high current capacity 35X4=140 high current output this should work a lot better than what is installed right now

I tested the battery cells there are installed right now and they are testing good with no issues that I...
